If it’s a matter of proving we are going somewhere. Wouldn’t said deal include significant triggers to extend?

If all we get is a flat 2 year deal. Our fan base will celebrate and refuse to acknowledge what likely lies ahead.
Don’t agree with this at all.

2 years gives him time to assess and time to make a decision. Also gives any potential suitors time to stockpile some picks.

Really see absolutely no down side to 2 years at all. I’d love 10 years but if Nas wants 2 there’s no negatives to giving it

Port do not have the assets to get a deal done unless Butters is involved. Unless that changes, how can he possibly leave?

He's played himself out of trade contention this year.
Even then id be shattered. Butters is awesome but nas could be ANYTHING. a mid who drifts forward and kicks goals for fun and sits on people's shoulders. Freakish

$100 on Nas for the Brownlow months ago at $501.

Gonna call my future house 'The Nas'
Would probably need to be BOG in 3 more wins against North, Tigers and Bombers.

If that happens, you are not without a chance sir.

Can't see a massive number this year like there was last year. 25-28 votes could be in the mix.

Obviously Nas is a great player, super skilled, all of that. We know that.

But there's 2 indisputable traits he carries that we almost need more than his football ability.

First is his body holding up - almost never misses games, we've had quality kids missing so many games in the last decade that someone who is always on the park is super valuable.

Second is the ice in his veins. For a 22 year old "defender" to nail 2 sets shots in the last 45 seconds of a game is truly unbelievable. Not to mention those 2 shots would have landed in a bucket - they were perfect. We'll never know who really orchestrated the plan between Ro, Windy and Nas but just to have the clear headspace to consider a set play in that scenario, then to execute, was Michael Jordan-like.

My hope all year is that Nas would commit long term as someone to lead the up and coming generation, not wait for the club to prove to him why he should stay.

As Hawks legend John Kennedy once said "Ask not what your club can do for you -- ask what you can do for your club"

Brownlow has become a popularity contest like all of the AFL awards.

Naicos could be subbed-off at qtr time and still get 3 votes just from the hype.

And all are super highly rated and only 19 games into their careers.

No matter what outcome we get, unless it’s Butters coming back. We will be getting cents in the dollar or highly speculative stock.
NAS has leap frogged past Butters.

He is at Naicos levels now. Seriously.

Port would need to cough up both Bergman and Butters now. And they won’t do that.

Agree. There was a bit of backlash last year though. Cripps and Daicos clearly pulled way too easily.

Daicos has been good but not exceptional this year. It's his to lose IMO, but if NAS was to poll 3 more BOG's from here he could be in the mix.

Waste of time. Tried it once and very few of the nurses wanted to roll in the hay with me....practically NO nurses... well... 6.... but still

There are other places for that sort of thing.
What about female nurses? Were any of those interested?

Will be shattered if Nasiah leaves the Saints but will respect his decision.
Hope everybody now understands why the Saints will be seeking massive compensation for him.
Has to be the equivalent of 3 HIGH first rounders...

Right now the manager is playing it well.

Nas's price has sky-rocketed.
That has to help us.
I mean, there is no way Port and Adelaide have anywhere near the currency needed to get him.
Doesn't the AFL have to sign off on all trades to make sure they are fair?
This kid is worth nothing short of 3 top ten draft picks - and they don't have anywhere near it.

The pres said in the same speech that he called out the academy and FS system that we haven't been good enough, and we need to be a lot better. You didn't think he was talking about just on field stuff did you?

We ALL know our sins, but acting like the system isnt wrong just because we've also not helped ourselves is some head in the sand bool sheet.

The club has done a lot to make us stronger recently on and off field, when is it going to be OK to criticise a rotten system? When we're in Geelong or Richmond's position?
Teff-nut said that our current problems had **** all to do with our drafting and all because of the academies/FS, which is absolute garbage. Go your hardest whinging about the system, I’m right there with you. There’s a heap of broken elements in comp but most of our recent problems have been self inflicted.

The absolute fan in me says yes. I don’t care about the money.

The member in me, wants a commitment that avoids doing this again in 2 years - because at that point I’m not sure we come away with nas signing up again.

Am I making sense to you?
Gives these Adelaide clubs a couple of years to accumulate the top shelf first round picks we'll be asking for - they certainly don't have them now!

Agreed, no way would Butters be enough now, as good as he is....
Butters and Rozee would do it (Rozee is a Saints man too)
Port supporters would scoff at this, but NWM has developed so quickly and is now so good that it’s not totally outlandish.

But no club would viscerate their core talent to bring in just one player, as good as that player is.

NWM’s performance yesterday has made it harder for us to re-sign him, but nigh on impossible for either Adelaide club to trade-in without losing elite talent of their own.

Draft picks alone no longer hold enough currency.
