Im not too worried by raw disposal numbers with mcneil and vander. Defence and offence are somewhat mutually exclusive, and I think is clear to everyone that their roles are primarily defensive, although we are all sketchy on the details. ... it involves a lot of running that fans dont see while ball watching, particularly on TV. I guess.....

However, the best players in that role make every disposal and shot on goal they do get count. Its almost a foregone conclusion that mcneil will miss that important 40m set shot, or that vander, having made plenty of space for himself, will burn that forward on the lead or kick it to the opposition - multiple times a game.

As amusing as it was to completely pull Essendon pants down. Exposing their little pee pee South Park style.

Playing them at the nadir of their VFL/AFL season was not all that helpful in determining what we do with selection during what is shaping as a season defining match this week.

It's a real problem when guys like Poulter, Baker and Garcia who I'd reflexedly call to be dropped. All played respectable games.

All I took from the game on Friday was that I can now accept that I find it a bit boring watching us rack up 75+ point wins with ease. Which in itself is an astonishing thing for a bulldogs supporter to say.

I did find myself on my phone way too much at the ground on Friday night.
It’s just these predictable floggings of struggling teams where my interest waxes and wanes in game (or could be ADHD).
The main reason I forced myself out into the cold was I was worried one of our big dogs was going to kick a lazy 10 and I’d miss it. A combined haul of 13 was a nice consolation prize though.

Im hoping for GWS to come out on fire with all guns blazing, leading to the type of finals intensity match we need.

And then go down by a margin small enough that Grubby Greene catches more heat for being suspended. 3 goals lets say

It is amazing how the press blow wind up his backside on how much he matured as a captain. It is all bulldust he has not changed one bit just a sniper that plays for himself. So glad we have Bont as our captain.

He's a total turd. He'd yes be one of those that out with mates, sees someone getting bashed and laying on the ground covering up and Greene grub would run up and kick their head. He acts like it in footy, because its him who he is. I see zero difference from a while back to now. Chuck him in the ring with a serious goer and we'll see how tough the coward hitter is.
Did I mention I can't stand Toby Greene?

We've failed every real test this year so far so it's hard to imagine us winning this. The fact that the bookies have us slight favourites makes me even more certain that we will lose. Just hoping for an entertaining game regardless.

If it's a tight finish, and we need someone to step up NWM-style and nail 2 late set shots under huge pressure, I hope it's Darcy, Dale or Kennedy. If it's Naughton, McNeil or even Bont with a set shot... (and yes I know Bont has nailed 2 set shots over the years to seal games, but he's missed a lot more).

Anyway, hopefully it's a comfortable, but challenging, win, and the last few minutes don't require chewing finger nails down to the elbow. 🤞

Crowd will be real interesting. Thursdays suck in general but we have been pulling decent numbers all year. For reference the bombers got 20k against the Giants a few weeks back.

Darcy is the man I reckon. Love’s the limelight and somehow, for 7 foot man, he guides the ball beautifully to his boot.

Naughton - no thanks. He has the worst kicking action since James Manson (yes, kicking well at the moment).

Naughts for whatever reason is kicking straight.
Love the Manson comparison too.

Do you think we’ve gotten worse with Garcia in the team? Or others aren’t doing as much since he came in?

It’s def changed….maybe like someone said…it’s vdm and lobbs hair
Not really. No. It's probably more a reflection on my terrible football, recruiting and selection judgement than anything else.

It might be time to hang up my bigfooty spurs.

I find this week's selection the toughest for the year probably because there is no wriggle room.

Possible ins Liam Jones, Davidson, Harmes, Arty Jones, Dolan, Buku

Possible Outs Busslinger, Cleary, Mcneill, Garcia, Poulter, Baker

There is no way we make 6 changes and most are fringe players except Davidson and Dolan in their first season there is not a lot difference who we select. I guess it gets down to match ups.

Buku gets the nod if we want to go a bit taller in the forward line
Jones gets the not if want more strength and experience down back
Harmes maybe he kicked 4 from memory last game against GWS
Davidson because he has been pretty good all season
Dolan and Arty for speed

For what it is worth

Ins
L Jones
A Jones/Harmes sub
Davidson
Buku

Outs

Busslinger
Baker
Poluter
McNeill

Apparently, a 46 point lead at 3/4 time is not safe.

Sam Darcy or Cody Weightman are the ones I would trust the most to own a big moment.

Naughts and Westy too. Their technique/ability might not be as good but they are alpha males and hate losing.

I'd hardly call this week against an undermanned GWS team a challenge when they're our bunnies.
