He had 9 straight games to show us, he is no where near it ATM but hopefully over summer he can add 1 or 2 kgs to that 60kg frame
Super talented is collard. I really rate him.

But at this point it’s hard to see this kid settling for us.

It has to be a conversation and if you could straight swap him for Ryan. It’s a worthy consideration

That is absolutely not how it works.

It was only 12 months ago you were a fan of us landing Peatling.

Aleer will be the same age as Peatling moving clubs. Peatling was also stuck behind very good players.

This is just what happens at clubs with gun players and depth. Players just don’t get a crack at it.

Barring injury - it’s likely Aleer is playing in the Giants first final. He is evidently rated by a side better than us.
KPPs and Rucks in particular.

Xerri couldnt get a game behind Goldy for a few years now hes a borderline AA, he only started playing regular footy at 23/24.

The opportunity cost of this is nuts. The extra year of trying to get Collard up to speed (and likely failing) is worth way more than Ryan.

If NAS only signs for 2 years.

Then your opportunity cost is that you have 2 years to put a side around him worthy of sticking around.

There is a significantly bigger picture to all of this.

2027.

Its a shame as he has Milne like skills around goal but yeah sometimes you need to be realistic and if a decent deal came up you would have to take it it

I’m a big fan. Really rate him.

Truth be told, even if we did trade him back home. I’d still let Gresham go and select him again in hope it would play out different and simultaneously it wouldn’t stop me from selecting the next kid with a similar background.

You've been mentioning the 2 years for a while now but realistically something has changed. We've presented our offer, upped it, yet everyone is still in the dark (the journos are reaching as much as we are). With all due respect, I don't think it's if Nas signs for only 2 years, it's probably if Nas signs on at all...

Just repeating what the media talk is.

The entire 2027 thing is however very real. Look at who is out of contract that year and potentially add Nas.

Let them because 1 thing in sport is clear if you’re good enough you play.
Gary Ablett Snr struggled to get a game at Hawthorn so went to Geelong.

Cal Wilkie didn’t get drafted until he was 22

Sam Mitchell spent years in the vfl before winning a brownlow

Jalen Brunson was a role player at Dallas until injuries expanded his role and now he’s one of the best point guards in the NBA.

If sport has told us anything it’s actually the opposite of your statement, some people just need opportunity to show they’re good enough.

Have you actually watched him or are you just going off the stats?
I've watched him have a career of flashy highlights that paper over a real lack of consistent substance.

Also is reportedly far from peak level of professionalism in the off season - which would appear to be backed up by the fact that he averages 15 games a season.

Left a pre season training camp early because he couldn't keep up

And let's not forget that he was out drinking and crashed his car into a tree at 2am on a week night

I actually don’t recall ever being a fan of Peatling or advocating chasing him.

I may well have given he was a free agent 23 with 50 odd games to his name and had played some decent games. He’s been good for collingwood without being great. We were desperate for midfield depth so yes it’s possible, he also played 19 games in maybe the best midfield in the comp and we weren’t swamped with options.

They’re playing Aleer because he’s in their best 22 or because they have injuries and he’s Johnny on the spot it can’t be both. Everybody with any sense rates their players especially when they might be looking for a trade. Does he play when GWS have a full side, no he doesn’t as we both know.

I was watching a game earlier in the year after this talk had started and I’ve already posted about what I saw on here. The ball was switched to him in acres of space, he tripped over his own feet picking it up toe poking it just in front of himself. He eventually gathered that ball but his loose link was now covered out on the wing. He still tried to hit him up short in a two on one. He missed him but followed up and actually gathered the ball where he tried to hand pass to his team mate but threw the ball. A point picked up by the commentators but fortunately for him not the umpires.

Now that’s the guy you’re pumping up, he’s not an intercept marker, he’s not big enough to play on the monsters and he seems to lack football smarts. That’s why I don’t want him, he’s not a howard replacement and if we don’t improve our midfield and he joins us he’s going to learn what pressure is. The ball came in so easily in the first half against Melbourne no one could have stopped it.

With Wilkie, Howard and Caminiti where does Aleer play ? What role is he playing ? What are our recruitment priorities ?.

I think Collard has the tools to be one of the best smalls in comp but if he must go home, then Liam Ryan will give us more than a 3rd rounder likely will.
