Watching Bont, Naughty and Chili play in the baby blue boots the other night gave me an idea for an alternative clash strip. The Baby Bluedogs!

I like this version more than the white or the pictorial clash strip. What are your thoughts? Could be a cool gather round variant also.

The Bluey Dogs? A good marketing ploy? 😁

Love this baby blue concept.

This is one which I made as an alternative to our current white cartoon design, using the 1980s kit style hoops:

Good job Brass Dog really like it.

I like it.
Whilst I like the red shoulder cuffs on our normal jumper, I reckon the shoulders matching that same colour of light blue could look better on this one.
Also, it would look great with navy shorts. It would be like the current NSW one day kit which is a cracker.

Did they do one like this for the W? Might be misremembering. Either way, it’s real nice.

Pair it with red shorts please!

I was thinking matching baby blue shorts and sock combo. I think it would look more congruent. I’m not the biggest fan of white shorts for the sake of tradition for an away team. Think it’s probably only a tradition because they didn’t do alternative strips back in the day.

They did a trans pride jumper in the AFLW 🏳️‍⚧️ baby blue, pink and white

I like the concept of getting a better clash jumper.
The most important question anyone should ask when choosing a clash strip is simply this; Would you be happy to wear this on Grand Final day?
Our current cartoon I would be embarrassed.

Both these still work very well because they look like Aussie rules football jumpers. I would be happy to wear either in a Grand Final if we were the ‘away’ team to Brisbane or West Coast or Fremantle, who we wear clash jumpers against now. The shot with Gilbert McAdam is Central Districts in the SANFL. They copied our night series clash jumper in the late 70’s early 80’s and then stuck with it as their normal jumper for many seasons.

No white?
You could make the collars, cuffs and numbers white. I reckon this is a much stronger look. I loved the look that’s why I bought that training guernsey from about 2018 I think.
Maybe on BrassDogs’ design you could put royal blue collar, cuffs and numbers and help balance out that design?

These were my ‘light’ clash jumpers from a few years back, using some sky blue too. I love the debates with our guernsey. I’ve done some as dark clash jumpers too. We did wear navy for a few years in the 1940’s.
But we’ve always got to ask ourselves that key question would we be happy to wear this on Grand Final day? If the answer is no about any particular jumper use it as a one off only. Imagine we qualify for this year’s Grand Final against Brisbane and have to wear that thing we wore two weeks ago up there? Laughably embarrassing, no symmetry to the hoops and a big stupid cartoon dog in black or navy blue across the front.
If we do happen to play the lions on GF day this September hopefully we bring out this year indigenous clash?

If you were to use sky blue you would have to have some royal blue too because I reckon yours just look a little too feminine?
Could potentially put some royal blue in the trim around the neck and shoulders. However, I personally don’t think the sky blue looks feminine. There’s a lot of male teams n various competitions around the world with the sky or baby blue as their main colour.

The Mitch Wallace kit is the best of the clash strips we’ve put out, but I’m not the biggest fan of it for some reason. Just too much white. I really like that Gilbert McAdams kit but again I think I’d like it less with white shorts.

I’d be interested in how many sales the merchandising department gets for our away/ clash strips. I doubt many are rushing out to buy it compared to our standard kit. A fair few teams are putting out different gather round kits these days, St Kilda have put out some great alternative kits this year.

I only meant feminine for the one without any royal blue to balance it, because we’ve had the AFLW for a while and I know the red is pink but it reminds me too much of that. But I totally think sky blue can and should be and will be used as a colour in the AFL. I’ve always thought the Sturt jumper in the SANFL was nearly the best jumper in Australia. And why I’ve also used that colour in past designs.
There is a small trend in world sport for different shades of the same colour in sports uniforms and it looks great. Eg red with maroon. Or royal blue with either sky or navy blue, or different shades of green or yellow/gold/orange etc. English one day cricket team has done this well and a bunch of soccer teams too.

How about this variation with royal blue trims?
