It would have to include Butters, and he'd have to agree. Significant bars for PA to jump over IMO.
It would have to include assets that may or may not include Butters. If it did include Butters it would be less complicated.

These assets would be whatever St Kilda preferred. Presumably draft picks that are acquired by selling assets.

I agree, significant bars to jump over. But that’s what going all-in means.

It would take a Graeme Richmond type of ruthlessness. But maybe the events of last week tipped them over the edge.

And how does it help Port to replace one star with another? Does it improve them? So what is the point really?
All hingeing of course on whether Nas requests to go home or not.

Probably because he's about to turn 28. Aleer is more in our age profile.

One is a C grade 25 year old with a few games, one is pushing A grade on his day 28 and would fill an instant need. The worse player requires possibly a second round pick, the older one would cost less money and zero draft capital. The C grader might come good, might not. They other one might get injured might not.

It's worth considering.

The only deal to satisfy us would have to include Butters.
Realistically how would it help Port to lose one star in order to get another one in?
I highly doubt we’d only want draft picks, even if Port managed to get 3 first rounders (realistically how would they manage that anyway?)
so it appears to be a real stalemate.

Anyway 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Don’t know. It would be up to them. But it would cause pain to pay for a blue chip assets.

Again, the words “all in” are interesting. It implies doing whatever needs to be done.

Could the club not posting Hall's extension mean they're expecting nas to sign really soon and announce it together?

edit: Could also definitely be to not piss off fans and save everyone asking about nas, it used to be weeks I'd change from positive to negative but it's become minutes now
So has Hall actually extended?

What intrigues me is what Port Adelaide is doing. Both contract wise and trade wise.

What does going “all in” mean? Because if it is only the value of the contract and not the trade table then they aren’t going “all in”.

I’m just speculating about this after the remarks on the Gettable podcast.

Maybe NWM’s game last week tipped Port over the edge. They have decided to go all-in to just get it done.

Is it possible that Port has decided, with a single focus, to do whatever it takes to get NWM and pay a hefty trade price to do it, even though he is OOC?

Ruthlessly get business done with only a small core of senior players not on the trade table?

I know the PA supporters on BigFooty wouldn’t like that, but is it possible that might be the case?

If that is what Port intends to do then the dynamics are different. Saints will have a real fight on their hands to retain NWM.

PA offers NWM a compelling monster long term contract AND do whatever they need to do to satisfy St Kilda at the trade table?

It’s hard to see how they would achieve this but there are ways if they are ruthless enough. It would cause genuine pain losing assets to get the deal done.

It’s not outside the realms of possibility. Although 100% speculation on my part.

I suppose that’s what these forums are for.
Definitely “all-in” in terms of money. Nothing to do with trade capital - they believe they can get him for unders (delusional)

The club and Ben Williams have a fractured at best relationship right now over this deal but in 2 years they are going to sing Kumbiyah and Nas is going to take LESS THAN WHAT HE SIGNS FOR TODAY.

The only moronic rationale this morning was yours. I’d drug test you if that’s your belief.

Well SOS can't win. Just trade him for Port's 2026 FRDP and a pair of Robbie Grey's shoes then. Otherwise he might be wanting more money that he doesn't even care about.

Maybe they aren’t delusional.

Maybe they are perfectly rational and calculated.

Maybe we are under estimating them. They aren’t thinking like normal supporters.

I don’t know. I’m just raising another perspective.

That’s the point genius.

You have to make an assumption based off the information you do know. Not kumbiyah crap your mate thinks is happening.

The facts as you know them are not changing the landscape for us in a significantly positive way when projecting towards 2027 and if he leaves then.

We are buying ourselves time to get our shit together is what we are doing. I imagine that Lyon isn't planning to still be shit in 2 years. Hopefully it's going to light a fire under us.

Players rarely leave if there is serious momentum. He probably has a girlfriend, owns a property, bonded with the club and teammates to a point where his older mates are still friends but not as close, his family are in different phases of life and the pull of going back to familiar is gone. 2 years in your early twenties is a long time. A lot changes.

That next contract might be ideally 10 years but it looks like that's not possible. We just have to work out the minimum that he'll accept to sign at this point. It's pivotal.

SOS has fractured relationships with lots of people in the industry, it’s about par for him

Fancy being so pig headed that you don’t go to your sons 100 celebrations
What a flog

Or you negotiate a fair deal for everyone now?

Negotiate away but if he ****s this he's going to have to go. This is his statement piece. Stuff it up and we and him look like absolute losers.

No one is saying we won’t pay nas.

Not everyone agrees with paying him whatever his agent might want and having no deal beyond 2027.

You do it all over again, but their starting point next time is higher then the current deal he is on
And then …. When there’s no money to keep Pou, Windy and Hall in 5 years time, people go ballistic at the list management at the club.

You just know it’ll happen.

Another point to add is that if we cave in and meet Williams’ demands MONTHS out from the trade period, imagine how easy other players would think it is to squeeze STK of all their money

More and more player managers will begin to do this with our club

IF SOS really was planning on paying max value for NWM, never in a million years would he do it at this point in the season where the situation isn’t as desperate as people are making it out to be

Nas is our first potential superstar since Riewoldt. Others can do whatever the **** they like but won't be getting offers from outside the club to inflate their value like Nas.
