Must admit watching Culley in the warm up he was much bigger than I thought. Was pretty happy with his game. Think some are being too negative on Petty, yeah the opposition was rubbish but he actually competed really well, still think playing him forward is stupid. I think the same about JVR thought he was OK, had one absolute howler in the second but I didn't think he was terrible. Not much else to add, Langford continues to look good Windsor played better.

All I’m saying is, why didn’t we make moves like this earlier, Culley clearly has forward craft which we have been absolutely dying for. Can win a contest forward of the ball, so I’m absolutely gobsmacked we persisted with Spargo and Tholstrup ahead of him.
I don’t think Culley has what I would call forward craft. To me that’s leading patterns, timing, body work in marking contests (e.g. Melksham).

Culley did what Dempsey at Geelong does as a wing. Drifts forward and then is vastly superior to his opposing wing in the air.

Spargo and Tholstrup have been half forwards in most of their games, not wings who drift forward.

Glad I didn't watch. Annoyed Petty got a few - will lock him up forward for the rest of this year you'd think.
Good for Culley to get on the board in his first game. Funny the debate here - reading the GDT sounded like he was invisible for half the game but managed to bob up for a couple in the 2nd half. Not a knock on him but seems some quick revisionism that he's so much better than a Spargo/Kolt etc.

Feel we'll be mauled by the Dogs next week so that's something to look forward to!

Agree on Culley. The ability to float forward and compete in the air well at 194cm is very handy, but I wouldn't be playing him out of the goalsquare any time soon. Anyway, there's something there to persist with.

Windsor getting in to space and using his speed a few times was a sight for sore eyes. He didn't play a blinder by any means, but it's a good step from the anonymous backline performances we've seen for most of the year.

Under the radar a bit, but Windsor's speed was handy defensively in the middle as well - 22 pressure acts (1 behind Viney, who had the most for us) and 5 tackles.

Like Culley Windsor also did his best work once West Coast had rolled over and died. But it was nice to see him on ball and being able to use his pace in a way that could’ve been very damaging.

Disposal still disappointingly scrappy for mine, but it’s a bit like when Pickett stuffs up. Windsor with his pace can create an opportunity that not many others can, so even the stuff ups are a bit easier to swallow.

It’s going to be a beauty.

I’m already curious what our plans are with Sam Darcy and Steven May out.

I’ve set myself a calendar reminder for this one

He was a metre short of kicking a lovely goal on the run and did hit Melksham (admittedly in a lot of space) from that nice set play from a kick in early on, but I agree that there's still a lot of work to be done with his disposals on the whole.

Disposal has been completely different since playing midfield IMO.

Kick retention rate for the year: -0.3
Kick retention rate for the last 5 games: +12.6

That puts him 5th highest for us, with only forwards and Culley (1 game) ahead of him.

Threat rating not really any different, so it's not due to easier kicks.

Windsor botched a few (and I only watched 2nd half) but he was also the only person to ****en hit a LEADING FORWARD with a drop punt for the entire time I was watching (despite our dominance).

Hit fritta twice on nice leads whilst using his pace. A breath of fresh air. Even playing WAFL standard team we still just bombed it to the hot spot so often. Mind boggling when you're playing under a roof.

Watching the game back as i didn't catch it. Petracca's face looking back to Fritta, after Fritta shanks it (with an eye dart i couldn't gif, if someone could gif this reaction that'd be great

West Coast were super poor. So we did what we should do to them. Pleased with Langford’s continued form. This guy has it. He’ll start clunking his marks soon like Culley did today. Liked what Culley did too. Seems composed and although lacks speed he can find the footy and get in good spots particularly up forward.
Gawny huge again. 8th AA incoming.
Bowey and Turner great down back.
Let’s see if we can pinch a win in the last few rounds. Very unlikely though.

Literally why. Winning is the absolute worst possible outcome every single time while this coach is in charge playing the players in the positions he does. We win the last 2 games and this club will say it's a building block to bounce again next season and pretend everything's fine.

Nah, I'd be very happy to stuff up the Hawks or Pies finals run. Would be great if we could cost them finals (Hawks) a home final or double chance (Pies).

Absolutely not worth it to deal with another year of the shittest most boring Melbourne side in decades.
It's like we've already done 90% of the detox off heroin and you can't help but beg for a little taste again

Absolutely. I just can’t barrack for a loss. I can’t see us winning another game. And I also do t think pinching one more win will satisfy the new Pres and CEO. Sure Goodwin could use as an argument. But feel a decision is basically already made either way.
