Hawthorn 1st + next year's first.

Not the craziest, considering the projected picks 1 and 2 look club tied, yet again.
This was my thought. Also (perhaps too optimistically), maybe nabbing Cripps+Acres plus Yeo+Waterman coming back, plus your young core getting a better pre season (especially Reid+Hewett), you might predict WCE rising a fair bit on the ladder and 2026 1st not being that high a pick anymore.

Not the craziest, considering the projected picks 1 and 2 look club tied, yet again, and we have 2x NGA projected to possibly go in the first round.

I mean, I wouldn't take it but it's far from the worst idea bandied around these parts.
Surely we can all agree next years first alone would be enough for Cripps, Motlop, Moir and Acres given it’s a top 3 pick guaranteed. Hawks first on top of that is even crazier.

Carlton supporter coming in peace.

Our board is currently blowing up with rumours about this. Source with a good (albeit limited) track record putting this out there, and others corroborating that there is some reality to it.

Out of curiousity - what do you reckon you'd trade for him? Hawthorn 1st + 2026 1st for him and Blake Acres? Throw Motlop in too? (literally just a guess - happy to be told this is not fair value in either direction)
I just don't see it happening. He's too old for us to want to pay too much, but too young for Blues to accept a packet of CCs. Hawks first is about the most we could probably pay, as we need the picks before for top end talent and there's no way we trade next year's R1 (given it's likely pick 1-4).

With the big knock on us being list management and player development (especially in the Beagles) over the past few years, I would say the level of blame on him would be proportional to the say he had in those aspects.
He had shit building materials.
In fact the 2018 flag was god level coaching of mostly b tier players.

Yeah ok, that is strange. If they're not playing him maybe your suggestion could be around the mark. It'd be hard to ask for much more if he's playing VFL
Yep. OOC next year and in no rush to extend. Pick 12 for non B22 player in a shit side and a bloke that turns 30 this year seems fair.

Cripps will be 31 at the start of next season - would love him as a veteren to lead and set our youngers up for success - but at best we'd get 3-4yrs out of him.

We're not in a position to be giving up top picks for him. Taking on a huge salary for sure, but not picks.

If he wants to come home win a flag, Freo might make sense.

We need to be targeting clubs that need to salary dump and are willing to let got of a old gun mid to do so.

He'll be 31 at the start of next season. That's priority pick territory. Acres would be worth less.

Tom Mitchell probably the most likely

If we get priority picks specifically for trading, maybe we could use one or two of them on Cripps.
That’s what I’d be asking the AFL for. One for Cripps and one for Cameron as well as NGA/Rookie list concessions.

Adding the f1 is way too much.
Id trade the hawks 1st for Cripps, and i wouldnt feel incredible about it either. He is 30 after all.

Maybe something with your tdk compo pick: 2 for 6+cripps or something

Dunno. Carlton have dibs on Walker, who's contending with Cochrane for #1. Will be a different story if Cochrane doesn't get added to Port's NGA though. I wouldn't trade it on that alone if he's freely available.

I mean, if we were to entertain such a deal, there'd be other stuff involved. WCE wouldn't just give up next year's first unless we were expecting some significant improvement, which could feasibly happen if we got Cameron and Cripps.

Imagine if Neale came also, lmfao. Wouldn't that be funny?

Pie in the sky shit but fortunes would change quick smart.

Ooh, I like that. Not sure that works with priority picks though.

I went over to the Blues board in peace, and apparently nothing short of Harley Reid is acceptable haha
Every Vic club board throws up Reid when you suggest trading for some C-grade spud, let alone a dual Brownlow medallist and their captain.

Sorry what, Hawks 1st and our 1st next year (very likely pick 1 or 2) for 2-3 of years of Cripps and Acres?
That might be one of the shittiest trades I've ever heard

Cripps, acres, Steele, Cameron, Wilson and McVee added to the list this offseason, **** we are gonna be busy.

2+32 for cripps+acres+pick 6
14+f3 for steele+wilson
2x priority pick end of 1st round for Cameron
19 for McVee
Keep pick 1 and 6.

Not a young team anymore at this point

I think 10 is the magic number for delisting/player movement this year.

Its a tight race, but I got the players above the line currently departing (those closer to the top more likely to be gone)

1. Gov
2. Sheed
3. Rawlinson
4. Petch
5. Jamo
6. Allen
7. Hunt
8. Cripps
9. Livingstone
10. Barnett
—————————-
11. Bazzo
12. Chesser
13. Newton
14. Cole

Would give us 7 (3 1st rnd, 2 nga main list, 1 FS and one nga cat b) picks and a trade in (I know some want more, 2 would be ideal if one is a senior mid and another is a ruck)

Hopefully we get some extra list spots from afl which makes life easier.

It's also a team that tops out at about 10th on the ladder, no thanks

I like this but in what world would this be a reality for us?

10th in the short term is better than the shit we have to put up with week in week out and 1 win seasons.

We can't tolerate this garbage any longer.
It's not good for the team morale, supporters, the AFL and the sponsors.

If this gets us 10th in taking it, a few more players to tilt us over the edge with quality and we can go from there

It won't happen like that though, we'll get a boost from the guys we bring in who are 30ish, they'll retire and we won't have enough talent to push higher.
