First time logging into this thread since Thursday and theres been 30 pages posted. Any trade news bar Walters talk??
Ben Cousins went down and had a kick to get ready for the Legends game annd it went that well, we are now offering Richmond the Hawks pick to bring in a mature mid. Two 9s next season.

Been a while since I posted it has been a good season to step away from the forums. Time to warm up before the real stuff starts in trade and draft period with a fresh account and renewed hope .

Rucks - WE HAVE NOTHING

We need to bring in 3 rucks over the next 2 years .

One to come in and impact straight away in Cameron.

We should also have a mid 20s ruck next in line or to pair with Cameron with the new rules . Reidy who is already in WA and is a genuine hit out ruck stuck behind Jackson and the fridge.

We should also be bringing in a young developer over the next 18 months because Barnett and Livingstone aren't up to it . Maybe a mid season draft pick or benjy van rooyen next off season .

Forward line - probably our best equipped line going forward .

Waterman shanahan Jwilliams all have shown they can be genuine forwards at times .
Archer can't kick for shit but he is a genuine 203cm athlete

Ryan is quality and would benefit most from a better engine room .

Brockman is slow burning and improving

Owies sucks but I think he would benefit from cripps retirement. Too same same .
A medium forward who could roll through the midfield Robbie grey style would be high on my wish list . Cumming✅

Bobby Hill may request a trade home and we should be interested. He is the right age bracket .

Rosas from GC could be a cheaper option but both he and Hill offer real speed in attack .

Defence - Has been decimated in the last few years losing shep gov barrass hurn .

Harry Edwards is our best key defender which highlights our list woes . He has been very good under the constant duress.

Archer needs to be moved to defence. It's a no brainer he is very athletic but sucks at kicking goals .

Dump kick duggan can GAGF he is a hack and the worst captain . Trade

Tmac what a star 🌟

Hough needs to go back to what he was doing and play defence

Baker has been great should be captain next season . Still shanks more than his fair share but makes up for it in desperation

maric needs to be persisted with it will be no surprise if as we grow as a team he grows to be a very good quarter back type kicker for us .

Starcivich mcvee would both slot into our back 50 nicely

Drafting farrow should also be high on our list also . Jordan dawson type hawks 1st is about right for him

Midfield- still a shit show nothing has changed and the refuse to fix it . When yeo and sheed went down they should have drafted a senior state league mid .
They then refused to do it at mid season also . The kids shouldn't be shouldering that load .

Harley Hewett are both Future mids leading this team . Both need to build tanks . Gross is in the same boat

Hall is further along than gross but the same coal face player needing development

Sharpe is a must this off season . Exactly what we need . Hard running ball pick who has leadership

Cumming needs to be sitting next to him on the plane

Rodriguez if available at our 2nd would also be a nice addition

We need to bring in experience to teach these draftees .

Targets

Patrick Cripps is cooked . Stay away he is apparently on the largest portion of his contract and will go the way of fyfe and struggle to get on the park .

Tom Mitchell is also cooked a been slow 🐌 since since he broke his leg and has no outside game .

Jack steele is the one . Elite trainer can play both inside and out . Saints bringing in macrae for a later has pushed him out and that should be his trade value for us . Offer front ended 2-3 year deal .

Neale should also be a target in a 2 year player coach role . Elite trainer and has never relied on bash and crash using Agility to get ground balls

Getting fringe 22 mid or 2 for depth would also be nice tunstill or Dev as a Delist free agent

No connection to WCE whatsoever other than good mates with Harley.

Money talks and pick 12 is more than fair, might see if it can also take Steele off their hands to pay NWM. Darcy would beat Fridge and Ginbey in the time trial and VO2.
I'd love Wilson at the club.
Outside skill and speed. Yes thanks....Always nice to dream.

I mean, it's possible and you're right that St.K could be players to keep NWM.

If Chess comes good on one wing and Wilson on the other.

Not just speed it’s his tank. Probably close to the best in the AFL after Harry Sharp who is a freak of nature.

Why not approach the Saints? For them it probably looks like Jevan Phillipou and enough money to retain NWM for Wilson and Steele, neither of which were in the starting 22 last week.

We bump our outside midfield age profile up from 18yo to 20yo and get a big body to help Harley.

Win-win.

Chances of our list management team having thought of this?

Zero.

One thing I really dislike about the current AFL teams and environment, is the draft.
I was there at WC’s 1st game when I was 15, and it very much us against them, a real WA vs the Vics feel, filled with passion and one eyed West Aussie football supporters.
I feel like we have really lost that and it’s such a shame.
I would love to see each team in Australia given a zone whereby they had the opportunity to sign up 1 kid from their local zone each year. Just make the zones roughly even player wise.
Clubs have just become giant corporate money making machines.

I'm really warming to taking Duursma with pick 1........just seems to have it all!
I totally get he might struggle to replicate the physical side in the AFL early, but he can also run, take marks and kicks very well!!
I can really see him and Harley tearing games apart in a couple of years!!

A lot of chat around Max Knobel last year. I believe he’s out of contract, but is out with a foot injury. He was delisted by the dockers so not sure if that makes him a free agent agent or he can just walk to PSD
Would be worth enquiring again and offloading Barnett.

Free agent for life after being delisted, I think.

You would need to delist/trade out 12-13 players to make that happen. Probably a bit much and not sure we even have that many out of contract.
Three first round picks, three NGAs and four mature bodies is 10 changes. Reckon we could do that and still have some dead wood to cut next year, as harsh as that sounds.

Willem Duursma is pretty comfortably the number 1 pick for me

The potential upside is insanely high, has everything you’d want in an elite midfield prospect.

Duursma and Sharp at 1 and 2 or splitting 2 if you think Sharp’s going to slide a bit seems like the play.

The way the game is played today Priddis wouldn't get 10 touches a game.
He is way too slow and a road block to our transition footy on a fast break.
We would have to go back to the weagles web to get him into the game and it wouldn't be pretty.
The same bloke that has the 4th highest average of contested possessions per game and the 9th highest average for clearances per game in the history of the AFL would struggle to get 10 possessions a game?

Yeah, we’re going to have to disagree on that. His entire game was built for stoppages and the hard stuff. He didn’t wait for the ball to be given to him. He just went and got it.

If Sharp turned out to be a Matthew Priddis rather than a Matt Rowell I’d still be doing handstands with joy.

Feel like we’ve come in for criticisms for drafting three WA first rounders in the last three years as well (plus a few others throughout the later rounds).

I think it's because WA is producing poorer talent overall, which has partly undone us, because we typically prefer drafting WA players if we rate them similarly to interstate options.

WA needs a major AFL pathway/talent development re-think & overhaul.
