Doubt there'll be any public outrage. Indifference more like. If one of the other teams was in a similar position the amount of f**** I would give would be zero.
Heard many of the commentators ( even old Cornes) saying they really hope that he stays with us. Even sympathising for the sleepless nights all Saints fans are having right now.

But that doesn’t really translate to anything the AFL would do to help. Wonder if AB would lean on his brother Paul on the AFL commission if push came to shove? There is no way the AFL should be making allowances for Port to cook the books re the amount of first round DPsthey are supposed to have taken.

But I think they did do something similar for the Cats at one stage?

I’ve got tickets to the night with nas and steel at the Seaford hotel. I find it really strainge that if he was going to leave he would agree to this kind of qna. It’s bogan central and the people won’t beat around the bush
Probably using his name to sell tickets. However if he does actually attend, you'd think he staying

If Nas is waiting until the season is over to sign a contract, then I suggest he's gone. If he stays, then there's three matches to make the big announcement, and no need to wait. I think this saga is verging on unprofessional by all parties involved.
Nas is unlikely to play a match as good as the Dees game. His value will not go up any further from the already very high offers, regardless of its the Saints or with one of the SA teams.

That’s why I think he will not be a Saints jumper next year. Would have signed already.

They offer something mildly acceptable like two firsts (2026, 2027) and two seconds (2025, 2027) and say "it's a fair offer" and then we have to decide if we take scraps or get nothing when he walks to the PSD.
Cannot expect us to take speculative draft picks ( who knows where they land up but doubtful it’s top 5) who we still have to spend years developing for a ready -made, developed ( thanks to us) player like Nas.

They just give us a take it or leave it offer and if we let him walk to the draft they get him for sfa. We're gonna get screwed.
Oh well, we need to be willing to get screwed then. We can't let them take the best player we've had in almost two decades for a pack of shit. 2027 firsts are practically worthless.

Grain of salt type info but here it is.

Eagles and GC will be swapping picks

GC receive: picks #1 #19 and #30
WC receive: picks #8 #13 and #17
Whatever happens with nwm its just more proof that the afl have destroyed the comp with free agency , f/s, academies, compromised drafts etc etc....
All they give a shit about is $$$$$.
Expanding the game in the northern states where 99% of people there couldn't give a stuff about afl .at the expense of foundation victorian clubs.

Not a chance, West Coast would be destroyed in the media.

The drop from 1 to 8 after all the academy picks is massive
Bearing in mind they’re probably also going to get a help package from the AFL. They’ve asked for it.

Poor buggers won a flag SUCH a long time ago…..

Nah, his manager is just drawing it out, so that Crows & Port throw the kitchen sink, then we have to match or go higher
What I'm hoping anyway.

The 22 August event seems odd considering its a friday and we don't know when we are playing in Round 24 yet.

if Giants need to win to make the 8, it's gotta be a Sat night / Sunday slot I'd say
I thought it was unofficially confirmed to be Sunday 1pm?
Which means a Saturday flight

If Nas leaves and we aren't properly compensated, we should consider asking the AFL for a priority pick or some kind of assistance. I'm not joking. We haven't won a flag in 60 years yet West Coast are asking for assistance having won two premierships in the last 25 years (the most recent being 2018).

Trust me, I understand your comment and I thought the same when we got nothing for Luke Ball. However, I think we need to send a message with this one and Port shouldn't be rewarded for not being ready for this situation.
This. When so many disgruntled saints supporters are watching this thread it’s time to stand up for the club. Yes we are a small underperforming club. But without equalisation we are nothing. The AFL needs us as well. What’s a 15 club competition.

Would a big Victorian club cop this? No.

It’s not homesickness, it’s big club sickness IMO.

Play hard and blow up in the media if we get offered peanuts for a generational player WE DEVELOPED FROM PICK 11.

PS if this is just NAS getting paid more money them I am ok but pls pls pls get on with it

If anyone is into comedy, this just got thrown up in the general Board thread for Nas.

“It’s not my view tho… 😂

It’s the clubs (Port’s) and St Kilda would probably view him in a similar band.

Whitlock, 26 F1 and 25 second rounder for Nas and 3rd and 4th round pick is fair value considering Withlock is treated as a first round pick.”

LOF with that degree of ignorance I doubt you have ever had exposure to indigenous families, their culture and the importance of their community. If he can get the same money whilst living where you choses to, why wouldnt you ask for a trade. If he does move back he will be in a position to financially help out his family and share his sucess.

Its not about being home sick, its about living closer to his family in the city of his chosing.

He isnt contracted but when a player nominates a specific club its up to them to make the trade work. If you consider the trade possibilities there is no way Port can get the trade done without being reasonable. Otherwise he goes to the draft or PSD which is not what they or Nas will want.
Mate you have no f******* idea of my history. Worked closely with some indigenous people in South Australia and the Northern Territory on several tours. Worked with indigenous people in prisons. Someone like Paddy Ryder went home to see his family frequently and missed training and club activities to facilitate that. But he didn't pull the pin on the whole club. It can be made to work if the player is willing. PSD might not be want anyone wants but if he's determined to get to S.A then that's where it will end up if we have any balls. Coz Port or the Crows will just say, "take it or leave it, this is our offer." If we say 'f*** off" he'll walk to the draft and no-one else will touch him if he's made it clear he's only willing to live in S.A. Just like Ball going to Collingwood. Pick 31 or something like that he was.

That’s all well and good if all he cares about is money, but if he wants to increase his chances of playing in a premiership, the more money he gets, the less there will be to pay players who will help him and his team win said flag.

It’s why a guy like Bont has left MILLIONS on the table over the years to stay at WB and not take up too much of the cap.

While Sam Darcy could have gotten $2mil PA on the open market EASILY, yet signed a 4 year extension on what is believed to be as little as $800K PA.

Potentially leaving almost $5mil on the table for just this 4 years alone.

Finn Callaghan another who left millions on the table, to stay where he was.

So if Nas is trying to squeeze every dollar he can out of us, he clearly doesn’t care anywhere near as much about us, or of increasing his likelihood of winning a flag with us, as those other blokes do about their teams and flag chances.
