Mate you have no f******* idea of my history. Worked closely with some indigenous people in South Australia and the Northern Territory on several tours. Worked with indigenous people in prisons. Someone like Paddy Ryder went home to see his family frequently and missed training and club activities to facilitate that. But he didn't pull the pin on the whole club. It can be made to work if the player is willing. PSD might not be want anyone wants but if he's determined to get to S.A then that's where it will end up if we have any balls. Coz Port or the Crows will just say, "take it or leave it, this is our offer." If we say 'f*** off" he'll walk to the draft and no-one else will touch him if he's made it clear he's only willing to live in S.A. Just like Ball going to Collingwood. Pick 31 or something like that he was.

If he wants to go back home, that's his prerogative, and if he can get there, then good luck to him.

Sucks for us, yes, but he owes us no loyalty.

Maybe he feels he does, and that's fine, but it's his right to do whatever is best for him.

There's no loyalty in the corporate world, or with just about any other job. It's no different here.

So if Nas is trying to squeeze every dollar he can out of us, he clearly doesn’t care anywhere near as much about us, or of increasing his likelihood of winning a flag with us, as those other blokes do about their teams and flag chances.

It’s the managers job to fulfil the wishes of his client.

Otherwise, Darcy would be on $2mil PA, not under a mil, Bont would be on way more than $1.3mil PA, etc, etc.

The manager works for THEM, they don’t work for him.

Then show us, by following the lead of Bont, Darcy, Callaghan, everyone who’s won flags at Geelong and Hawthorn in the last 15 years, etc, and sign for an amount that will make you very rich, without making it harder for your team to win a flag.

it's a nice thought until you remember we're offering to massively overpay free agents with the money that nas will leave on the table.

Like, "we have a premiership capable team and everyone needs a to take a cut" is very different to "yall need to take a cut so we can overpay TDK by 500k per year"

If Nas leaves and we aren't properly compensated, we should consider asking the AFL for a priority pick or some kind of assistance. I'm not joking. We haven't won a flag in 60 years yet West Coast are asking for assistance having won two premierships in the last 25 years (the most recent being 2018).

Just settle buddy and see how it plays out, you are going off half cocked on something that might not even eventuate!

Tours of SA & NT says a lot (ex-Army) thats hardly a work understanding with the indigineous. Plus working in the prisons leaves individuals very bitter and narrow minded with a skewed outlook on the world! Sound familiar...

Everyone is different and have different relationships with family and if you knew anything about the indigenous every tribe/mob have different expectations of the male role models within their family unit.

Except that overpaying blokes from other teams to come to us is the only way they’ll consider coming here.

If we don’t offer to massively overpay, they simply won’t come, and we’ll be left with just the list we have now, which is miles off premiership contention.

We’re not offering guys like TDK huge money as a snub to the guys on our list, we’re doing it to give these guys the opportunity to contend for premierships. Which is what everyone in footy says they want to do.

Everyone knows that you generally need to overpay blokes to leave their current team and come to yours, and that you generally need to take less than you could get on the open market to stay at your club, so we’re not asking him to do anything out of the ordinary here.

Again, those who only care about themselves and their bank balance will push for every dollar they can get, while those who care about their team and their chances of winning a flag will follow the lead of all the guys who have left millions on the table to stay at their club, and leave enough money for others who can help them win a flag.

And in our case, that’s a lot, because as we’re finding, even offering blokes massive overs isn’t enough to get most of them to come.
