Making bank off Heath and Keeler
Mate you have no f******* idea of my history. Worked closely with some indigenous people in South Australia and the Northern Territory on several tours. Worked with indigenous people in prisons. Someone like Paddy Ryder went home to see his family frequently and missed training and club activities to facilitate that. But he didn't pull the pin on the whole club. It can be made to work if the player is willing. PSD might not be want anyone wants but if he's determined to get to S.A then that's where it will end up if we have any balls. Coz Port or the Crows will just say, "take it or leave it, this is our offer." If we say 'f*** off" he'll walk to the draft and no-one else will touch him if he's made it clear he's only willing to live in S.A. Just like Ball going to Collingwood. Pick 31 or something like that he was.
It's the manager's job to get the maximum priceThat’s all well and good if all he cares about is money, but if he wants to increase his chances of playing in a premiership, the more money he gets, the less there will be to pay players who will help him and his team win said flag.
It’s why a guy like Bont has left MILLIONS on the table over the years to stay at WB and not take up too much of the cap.
While Sam Darcy could have gotten $2mil PA on the open market EASILY, yet signed a 4 year extension on what is believed to be as little as $800K PA.
Potentially leaving almost $5mil on the table for just this 4 years alone.
Finn Callaghan another who left millions on the table, to stay where he was.
So if Nas is trying to squeeze every dollar he can out of us, he clearly doesn’t care anywhere near as much about us, or of increasing his likelihood of winning a flag with us, as those other blokes do about their teams and flag chances.

Nah, we unfortunately are in a bidding war =$$$ with two other homestate clubs.Agreed.
If his manager is just a prick then at some point Nas needs to man up and step in, unless Nas is just about the dollar.
There has to be some give and take on both sides.
It’s the managers job to fulfil the wishes of his client. It's the manager's job to get the maximum price
Then show us, by following the lead of Bont, Darcy, Callaghan, everyone who’s won flags at Geelong and Hawthorn in the last 15 years, etc, and sign for an amount that will make you very rich, without making it harder for your team to win a flag. That's what he is doing here.
Nas has stated twice previously that he loves the club & his mates & wants to help us have success.
it's a nice thought until you remember we're offering to massively overpay free agents with the money that nas will leave on the table. That’s all well and good if all he cares about is money, but if he wants to increase his chances of playing in a premiership, the more money he gets, the less there will be to pay players who will help him and his team win said flag.

If anyone is into comedy, this just got thrown up in the general Board thread for Nas.
“It’s not my view tho…
It’s the clubs (Port’s) and St Kilda would probably view him in a similar band.
Whitlock, 26 F1 and 25 second rounder for Nas and 3rd and 4th round pick is fair value considering Withlock is treated as a first round pick.”

We’d be laughed out the roomIf Nas leaves and we aren't properly compensated, we should consider asking the AFL for a priority pick or some kind of assistance. I'm not joking. We haven't won a flag in 60 years yet West Coast are asking for assistance having won two premierships in the last 25 years (the most recent being 2018).
If nas leaves I'm going to the PSD, whichever club board I end up at next year will be better than hereNobody is going to the PSD. That is a laughable fantasy thrown up every year.
We keep him or get compensation that even if seems reasonable, will not satisfy anyone

The bloke is a crack head
Are we going to be mad as a fan base if this is the hold up
Nas & management want $2m a year over 2 years.
Saints are offering $2m a year over 4+ years OR $1.5m a year over 2 years
Essentially saints just saying you get Bont money if you commit to us long term, not off an 8 week sample
Nobody is going to the PSD. That is a laughable fantasy thrown up every year.

No chance. You don't think there's a scenario where he ends up in the PSD?
There's never, ever been a situation like this. Historically what's happened before is almost irrelevant.
Not sure this involves squeezing the club for every last cent when he woukd have got a very, very handsome pay rise as it is.Nas has stated twice previously that he loves the club & his mates here & wants to help us have success.
No reason other than the family thing, to think this view has changed.
No chance.
We’d be (rightly) laughed out of every future negotiation if this occurs.
You’d certainly hope that wasn’t his normal degree of intelligence. The bloke is a crack head
Except that overpaying blokes from other teams to come to us is the only way they’ll consider coming here.it's a nice thought until you remember we're offering to massively overpay free agents with the money that nas will leave on the table.
Like, "we have a premiership capable team and everyone needs a to take a cut" is very different to "yall need to take a cut so we can overpay TDK by 500k per year"
Throws the whole concept out the window
Yeah for sure. Then Port must pay fair value. Anything less (ie some of the **** packages being thrown up on the port board) then he SHOULD go to the PSD.
We can't take cents on the dollar for Nas.
This isn't Bailey Smith. I hate that comparison. He was injured and hadn't played good football in years not to mention his off field issues. They still got a first for him.

Well he does come with a Big Brother mindset where the whole strategy was to get rid of your mates in order to get the big bucks. Not sure this involves squeezing the club for every last cent when he woukd have got a very, very handsome pay rise as it is.
Making it very tricky to keep all “his mates” or bring in other key players in a few years time when we are really pushing ( hopefully) for a flag.
Doubt the manager cares about that though.
