I agree, but whatever happens in that meeting, it won't affect this year's draft in November, same as the points correction was delayed last year until after the draft. ( clubs plans blah blah blah)

In relation to 2026, Carlton F/S is touted as #1 pick atm, they lobbied hard for the delay in 2024 so they could get the twins cheaper, so I can see them doing that same again.

I will add that changes made to the drafting system have usually had a 2-year delay. I hope that ,as you suggest, it gets ripped off for 2026, but I can also see the AFL being gutless and relenting to "club planning" again.

I'm all for a total system rewrite, this dual economy has serious flaws

The AFL has to do something about this year’s draft. They can’t let the farce with all these Academy and Father-Son players play out.

Possibly the AFL puts in place bridging rules in 2025 that transitions to an uncompromised first round in 2026.

Maybe something like only being allowed to match one bid in the first round, but the bid must be matched with a later pick in the first round.

Still not good enough, but much better than what is in place.

The AFL put in place transitional rules to tighten the NGA Academies.

The worst part about not being in finals contention is the f-ing post season thread is on us early. And they always quickly descend into junk. Especially when such a big decision is looking. This season sucks balls.

From what I’ve heard it’s more likely Nas will sign on for two years, to save my own sanity I’m going to back in my (limited) information until some substantial information tells me otherwise. That means not reading into Nas’s post game interviews, Ross’s interviews that could go either way or journos shooting randomly hoping for a hit.

Also doubt Nas is going to turn up to that event, regardless if he’s signing on or not.

Plenty of uncertainty.

Even if I go with you and agree that it's 'almost certain' he still gets to port... almost certain is a loooong way off certain when you are talking about one of the landing of of the best players in the game.

When the stakes are that high (AND you are staring down the barrel of a rebuild)- you simply don't play it cute in negotiations and try and drive a hard bargain.

Port will stump up a decent trade price for nas if we are willing to be seriously prepared to lose him for nothing in the psd (and don't just use it as an empty threat)

Yeah they won't want him to go to the PSD so we have to be able to credibly threaten that, but I don't think we can credibly threaten to lose him for nothing.

I'm still trying to stay positive, but man, this week has felt more demoralizing than most. Ross' presser on Sunday, the general negativity from the fanbase and the fact there's no news. I know the media knowing nothing is likely a positive sign - but it's so hard. The closer we get to the end of the season, the more ominous everything is feeling. And coming on here and being assaulted with "HE'S GONE" every 5 seconds doesn't help.

I want to believe. Don't let me down Nasiah.
