If we can't get Davies, Steele would be a good stop gap. But we really need to target 22-26yo players which is why the starcevish talk is all around
Yeah, sounds like they are. Will Philips, Erasmus, Sheldrick*, Tsatas all linked in that age bracket or have done 4 preseason by next year.

Sounds like they are having a decent crack. Let’s hope someone on the recruiting team has a decent eye for identifying this sort of talent that can come in and play a role.

Unforch it's hard to interest players to come over here if they not already from WA.

Concerning thing is:
  • WA are producing less draftees per capita than SA & VIC and falling
  • The WA talent that do get drafted are falling in quality
  • All clubs get to pick over the WA draft pool
  • Once drafted interstate, it's a struggle getting WA talent back.
  • The few WA players that do get drafted represent our best option at trading a player in/gaining a free agent.
  • The top end Vic talent we bring in face constant speculation as to "when they're coming home"
if the draft goes are projected. When was the last time WA had 3 of the top 5 talents like QLD this year? Yet for some reason they need full access to these guys at a discount to grow the game….. QLD now has more registered players playing Aussie rules than SA.

I went over to the Blues board in peace, and apparently nothing short of Harley Reid is acceptable haha
You should propose us bidding pick 1 on Dean this year and pick 1 on Walker next year.
That'd really throw the cat amongst the proverbial pigeons.

Further to this hopefully once Cameron is done, Archer and JW are big and strong enough to handle the ruck duties between them
Jack Williams would be lacking confidence.
Played well last year but was in and out always behind Darling, Allen, Waterman, BBw and Flynn.
This year with a new coach he's started behind A.Reid and couldn't afford a bad game,
I think he plays better as a ruck/forward but is not really playing that role at either Afl or Wafl.

Been a while since I posted it has been a good season to step away from the forums. Time to warm up before the real stuff starts in trade and draft period with a fresh account and renewed hope .

Rucks - WE HAVE NOTHING

We need to bring in 3 rucks over the next 2 years .

One to come in and impact straight away in Cameron.

We should also have a mid 20s ruck next in line or to pair with Cameron with the new rules . Reidy who is already in WA and is a genuine hit out ruck stuck behind Jackson and the fridge.

We should also be bringing in a young developer over the next 18 months because Barnett and Livingstone aren't up to it . Maybe a mid season draft pick or benjy van rooyen next off season .

Forward line - probably our best equipped line going forward .

Waterman shanahan Jwilliams all have shown they can be genuine forwards at times .
Archer can't kick for shit but he is a genuine 203cm athlete

Ryan is quality and would benefit most from a better engine room .

Brockman is slow burning and improving

Owies sucks but I think he would benefit from cripps retirement. Too same same .
A medium forward who could roll through the midfield Robbie grey style would be high on my wish list . Cumming✅

Bobby Hill may request a trade home and we should be interested. He is the right age bracket .

Rosas from GC could be a cheaper option but both he and Hill offer real speed in attack .

Defence - Has been decimated in the last few years losing shep gov barrass hurn .

Harry Edwards is our best key defender which highlights our list woes . He has been very good under the constant duress.

Archer needs to be moved to defence. It's a no brainer he is very athletic but sucks at kicking goals .

Dump kick duggan can GAGF he is a hack and the worst captain . Trade

Tmac what a star 🌟

Hough needs to go back to what he was doing and play defence

Baker has been great should be captain next season . Still shanks more than his fair share but makes up for it in desperation

maric needs to be persisted with it will be no surprise if as we grow as a team he grows to be a very good quarter back type kicker for us .

Starcivich mcvee would both slot into our back 50 nicely

Drafting farrow should also be high on our list also . Jordan dawson type hawks 1st is about right for him

Midfield- still a shit show nothing has changed and the refuse to fix it . When yeo and sheed went down they should have drafted a senior state league mid .
They then refused to do it at mid season also . The kids shouldn't be shouldering that load .

Harley Hewett are both Future mids leading this team . Both need to build tanks . Gross is in the same boat

Hall is further along than gross but the same coal face player needing development

Sharpe is a must this off season . Exactly what we need . Hard running ball pick who has leadership

Cumming needs to be sitting next to him on the plane

Rodriguez if available at our 2nd would also be a nice addition

We need to bring in experience to teach these draftees .

Targets

Patrick Cripps is cooked . Stay away he is apparently on the largest portion of his contract and will go the way of fyfe and struggle to get on the park .

Tom Mitchell is also cooked a been slow 🐌 since since he broke his leg and has no outside game .

Jack steele is the one . Elite trainer can play both inside and out . Saints bringing in macrae for a later has pushed him out and that should be his trade value for us . Offer front ended 2-3 year deal .

Neale should also be a target in a 2 year player coach role . Elite trainer and has never relied on bash and crash using Agility to get ground balls

Getting fringe 22 mid or 2 for depth would also be nice tunstill or Dev as a Delist free agent

Well I'm on board, can we get this guy the keys to the club?

On Mid Week Tackle Ralphy said Judd McVee and his partner (AFLW player at Carlton I believe) want to stay in Vic.

Will Phillips has been linked a little to West Coast.

Khamis keen for a move, understands he might Dev himself if he stays. Will move to a club if he thinks we will be best 22.

Yes Ralph is a w***er but if they are genuinely after a small forward and prepared to pay for it, Liam Ryan to Gold Coast with salary paid would make a trade very palatable for both teams.

8, Davies for 21, 30, 48, Ryan and no bids.

Why is Phillips not cutting the mustard at North? Is he a turnover merchant/bad skills?

McCreery has kicked 16 goals in his last 32 games. I don’t think he’s the answer for anyone’s question if the question is i need a small forward

Is an awesome player IMO. Prototypical modern high half forward, and one a coach would love to have.

What do people think about this as a complete over hall of the draft system.

Every team is allocated a set number of points (determined by draft index) based upon their picks after free agency and the trade period is complete.

Every pick is then auctioned off with the starting value of that pick being allocated to the original owner of that pick. For example pick 1 would be auctioned starting with 3,000 points with WCE the starting bid.

A minimum bid increase amount is applied (say 5% of pick value - 150 for pick 1 initially) and teams have 30 seconds to bid for the pick which resets after each new bid.

If a team bids (say Essendon) then pick one would now be 3,150 with a new minimum bid required of 158 (rounded up). IF no other bids and Essendon use the pick to bid on say Annable Brisbane would then have to match this new increased points system minus a 10% discount (is this the discount?) which would be 2,835. This means academy players that are good enough could force the academy team to pay a large portion of their draft points to obtain them. If Brisbane pass then Essendon get the player they think are worth the extra points.

If Brisbane accept then their existing picks are used up corresponding to that value (2,835). West Coast becomes the new pick 2 starting bid as everyone's 'picks' (not points) are moved back (and forward for the Brisbane picks absorbed). In this system WCE maintain their draft points and don't lose the value of the 1st pick because they have their total points to bid on for the remaining picks.

If we're going down the route of an even more compromised draft I think this sort of system allows the bottom teams to maintain their draft 'purchasing power' so to speak and allows for a better allocation of draft talent.

Obviously this would be quite complex and would need to consider how long it would take ect with the bidding process adding to the draft timing but I think this would also add intrigue to the draft also.

Interested to get peoples thoughts on this idea?

F*** giving Colligwood a lift by taking a few elderly players off there list like Cameron & McCleary. The only way we take them is for picks 40 to 60.

Everyone would bid for pick one though right?
