Provisional 2025 Draft order

Just get rid of the points system and only allow a discount of 2 pick positions. You don't have a pick within 2 of the bid? Too bad.

The point system sucks. Teams can basically trade a handful of Tamagotchis for a PS5.
Not sure the current rules for bidding - but was stupid seeing clubs pony up a few 3rd rounders for a top 10 pick.

Surely, to bid, one of those picks need to at least be in the same round, or within 10 picks ideally.

within 2 picks is way too hard for clubs to judge, you basically have to know the exact order of the draft 12 months out to prepare.

I think points can work, but top 10 picks need to be matched within maybe 5 picks, rest of the first round say 10 and second round on whatever.

People’s biggest complaints is paying fair value, looking at what we traded out 2 top 5 picks in the last few years and looking at what we received I think the points and picks used would start looking much closer to realist trades

Brisbane will be taking 6 1st round picks in the last 5 years all getting a discount 3x top 4 picks in that haul all whilst being at the pointy end of the ladder .
Send that stat to Swanny who used the Brisbane climb as an example of what other clubs have been able to do to climb out of a hole.

Superficial Swanny at his best.

Why would you sign now, he'll wait and see who they appoint you'd imagine. Will then have talks about how that coach see's his role moving forward and then either sign or jump.
The contract has been in front of him for months apparently when there was no thought of Goodwin being sacked.

Now he might wait, but he obviously wasn't happy with something.

TBH, I'm not sure what the fuss is over this guy.

From the quick look i took at the D's board yesterday i think Goodwin being sacked has been on the cards for a fair while.

Lot of chatter about the disconnect between dees management and the coach/players. Players very disgruntled and blindsided by Goodwin's sacking. Mcvee rivers and co might have signed on for the coach. Now they've sacked him, they might walk. Mini has a relationship with them, has to be in there ear now.

Could be they are more likely to sign on now.

Big split in the playing group regarding Goodwin. Depends which side they were on, but if I'd have to guess myself, they weren't on his.

The Dees of this side of 2022 aren't known for their harmonious beliefs though to be fair

Do a Craig McRae?

Players may also want to see who the new coach is. Did read a statement from Melb FC indicating 8week selection timeline which will mean decision is made before player movement period.

Ed Langdon not a happy camper with Board's decision.

Unless he wants a year off, I reckon Kenny H would be the best medicine for Melbourne. Proper galvanising type, arm around the arm or a rocket in the ear when needed.

He could be the type to get old mate Clarry back and firing
You'd get a few loyalist holdouts potentially ripe for picking, but is there anyone we'd desperately want to grab?

Jed Walters manager on gettable, didn't sound overly convincing about Walters future at the Suns.

Re an extension:
"There's been communication with him the whole way through about what that phase looks like for him after his 3 yrs"

"We're just learning on the job as he's the first of those 3 yr contracts"(I guess that's to do with being taken high in the draft)

"We didn't want to rush in".

"Suns have been great for all those guys up there so I think we'll probably look at it at some point"

Schofield might be onto something.

Would absolutely give 'em pick 2 for Walter and start developing Reid as a ruck. Walter's going to be a beast.
