JW would be a surplus in a D Cameron trade or someone else in that scenario.

maybe but the reality is Cameron is at the peak of his career and we have offered him a lucrative 3-4 year contract.
JW is at the start of his career and is a solid KPF so they have to be valued accordingly.

Re an extension:
"There's been communication with him the whole way through about what that phase looks like for him after his 3 yrs"

"We're just learning on the job as he's the first of those 3 yr contracts"(I guess that's to do with being taken high in the draft)

"We didn't want to rush in".

"Suns have been great for all those guys up there so I think we'll probably look at it at some point"

The Hawks' second will be in the late 30s, early 40s, less than 50 per cent of those picks go on to have any meaningful career. People overrate draft picks and apparently underrate ruckmen in their peak.

Mate Shuey is so embedded here, he isn't going anywhere. The guy gets excited when we play indoors on Thursdays like it's life and death.

I know we whinge about him because we've been so shit - and not his fault - but our decline coincided with his captaincy, and his disappointing retirement due to injury. It's also really hard to know what his impact is behind closed doors given our on-field performance is dogshit.

That said

• Swans are no fools or minnow club. They're good operators and if they rate Shuey there must be good reason.
• He's a mentor to HR & him and his wife are basically his surrogate parents at this point.
• I assume his decision to stay is also based on assurance from Mini et al that he has a job here. I'll back Mini in to know him best, and whether he is any good
