Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Does anyone really think that JSOS will be able to come back after 'shopping' himself around and meeting with other teams/coaches etc. I don't want him to go... but all signs point to him leaving.. So... see ya.
Bring on the new batch of kids, or some strategic recruiting.
Kreuzer did a medical at the filth for one of his free agency periods. He came back without an issue or loss of reputation or our love for him. I think it’s just a bit a shock that it’s a Silvagni.

Head of Development: Brad Ebert
Not sure.

Ruck Coach: Matthew Kreuzer
Unsure.

Brad Ebert - a Voss hire (allegedly). Likely gone.

Matthew Kreuzer - not saying this because we love him but has runs on the board last year in the hand he's had in developing TDK. Skull looks the goods and Flynn has his wraps.

I'm not a fan of the "nepo-Carlton" hires but Kreuze has been solid.

e: Well, the news from the club just changes things.

You have Scott listed twice.

Can you redo the list with the number of years they had been coaching for when they won the Premierships?
Listed Scott twice due to how far apart his flags were.

As for the second question, sure thing:

2024 - Fagan - First time senior coach - 8th year
2023 - Fly - First time senior coach - 2nd year
2022 - Scott - First time senior coach - 12th year
2021 - Goodwin - First time senior coach - 5th year
2020/2019/2017- Hardwick - First time senior coach - 11th, 10th and 8th years
2018 - Simpson - First time senior coach - 5th year
2016 - Bevo - First time senior coach - 2nd year
2015/14/13 - Clarko - First time senior coach - 11th, 10th and 9th year
2012 - Horse - First time senior coach - 2nd year
2011 - Scott - First time senior coach - 1st year
2010 - Malthouse - Third time senior coach - 972nd year
(unsure of this, just assumed)

So a bit all over the place really, lots who won in their 1st or 2nd years, a few in the middle like Simmo and Goody, and then the outliers like Scott, Hardwick and Clarko. Important to note however that Clarko would have a longer leash than most on this list as he won a flag in his 4th year, and Scott is arguably the greatest coach of the last 10 years with the most consistently good side of the last 10 years.

Unsure what I take out of the data but there it is.

Have we had any coach, assistant or head in the last 10 years who have left us while at the peak of their career or been poached by other teams?

Joining us really does seem like a good way to gamble your career path away.

We need to move Kruezer on too. Despite if we think he has been good or not. We need fresh ideas. He has been there for a very long time now. Dont think our ruck strategy have been all that strong.
He helps them develop their ruck craft, out of Pitto, TDK, HOK and Riley which of them are currently underperforming?

I'd keep Kreuze on as long as he wants to, been awesome for our ruck department.

Just received this email:

The Carlton Football Club can today confirm with absolute clarity that its AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss will remain coach of the Blues into the 2026 AFL Season.

As communicated by the Club in June, incoming CEO Graham Wright has been maximising the final eight weeks of the home and away season to work closely with the football department.

This has involved clear consultation with players, coaches and staff, producing valuable insights into where the AFL program currently sits, and the necessary steps that need to be taken to take the team forward.

“We were clear following Round 16 that we would utilise these remaining games to make calm, rational and fully informed decisions that will take our football club forward and that is what we will continue to do,” Carlton President Rob Priestley said.

“The first of these has been in relation to our Senior Coach, which we are now in a position to provide clarity on following last night’s scheduled Board meeting.

“Last night, Graham presented a recommendation to the Board of Directors that Michael remains as our Senior Coach into next season.

“This recommendation was unanimously endorsed by the Board.

“For the last few months Graham and Michael have been meeting regularly, during which time they have been engaged in open and honest dialogue with one another on what is required for us to evolve as a football side.

“Michael’s ability to lead our football club this year in the face of incredible pressure has displayed the attributes of a strong and selfless leader.

“Carlton always comes first for our coach, and Graham and Michael share a clear and aligned view on the opportunities to improve football performance.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that Michael Voss is the coach of the Carlton Football Club and he will remain the coach of the Carlton Football Club.”

Kreuz can stay IMO. I know most of us are in the middle of cracking the s**ts with him, but TDK has gone on record multiple times saying he wouldn't be the player he is without Kreuz. Plus as you said, HOK is looking really good as was Mirk before his health issues. The absolute least of our issues.

They did the thing...

Public declaration of support is a huge red flag that signals the certain doom of a coaching tenure. Interesting they stated he's safe for his 2026 contract because it's going to be harder to walk back when (yes, when) they move him on.

More interesting that the club email was anonymous - not from RP or GW or Cook. But stating Wright has actively recommended Voss to stay on is either lip service OR maybe he believes the problems really are 'everyone but Voss'.

He has consistently gotten the best out of our rucks.

TDK has blossomed under him. Has gone from an athletic but uncoordinated ruck/KP into an extra midfielder beyond the ruck contests. What's tragic in losing TDK is that he's becoming the exact type of player we all hoped Kreuzer would be before the knee injuries -- MK's stamp is all over him.

Pittonet is an extremely limited ruck. Yet, despite his flaws, has consistently strived to get the best out of himself.

And both of our two developing rucks, predominantly in the VFL, both look like they have AFL careers ahead of them.

You can't possibly ask for more out of your ruck coach.

He's staying. Absolutely nonsensical to put out that statement otherwise.

11 years between flags. Carlton would have sacked him in that time.
972nd year (unsure of this, just assumed)
I like what you have done here!

Apart from Bevo, the 1st time coaches that won early premierships inherited excellent teams with lots of recent finals experience.

Clarko - First time senior coach - 11th, 10th and 9th year
*Clarkson won his 1st premiership in his 3rd year also.
