Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

They did the thing...

Public declaration of support is a huge red flag that signals the certain doom of a coaching tenure. Interesting they stated he's safe for his 2026 contract because it's going to be harder to walk back when (yes, when) they move him on.

More interesting that the club email was anonymous - not from RP or GW or Cook. But stating Wright has actively recommended Voss to stay on is either lip service OR maybe he believes the problems really are 'everyone but Voss'.
Big difference between throwing out the ol "full support of the board" when asked by a reporter and saying in an email to members and now posting on their website that they can "confirm with absolute clarity that its AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss will remain coach of the Blues into the 2026 AFL Season."

Don't think this is fluff, I think they mean it.

For me this is a very harsh take on Dow

He has had massive injury impacts to his time at St Kilda. The few games he played he did ok.

If he was wasting away in the 2s and showing nothing when he made an AFL appearance there would be validity to your post
Couldn't hold his spot in the one paced Saints midfield last year. If he did OK, why was he dropped?
He's played the past 6 weeks in the VFL for the 14th placed team.I'm not here to knock the bloke, he's achieved more than 99% of us in footy. But for some to suggest he was somehow mismanaged by Voss and therefore couldn't show this potential is nonsense IMO.

I agree they won't back out of this now. Voss will coach in 2026. Really unexpected and very un-Carlton like. Arguably the riskiest move as if we are struggling next year to start the season all the rumblings are going to start again. I wonder if they have to extend him now...?

This is my biggest thing. Surely they have to right?
How would it work bringing in assistants knowing that Voss and yourself could be out in a year.
Genuinely curious

I'll preface this by saying that prior to R15 I was on board with Voss coaching out his contract.

However...

Voss coaching out his contract will cost us the rest of the list.

Anything less than an immediate second half of 2023-type turnaround and he would be as lame duck a coach as we've ever had.

The odds of that happening are astronomically low. There are too many kids and too much needs to go right.

Nup. He and Lloyd need to go, we need a new footy department and we need to move forward.

I stand by this opinion I shared last night.

Unless things turn around quickly next year Voss will quickly be the biggest "lame duck" coach we've ever had.

That said, I support the club and Wright on making this decision even if I don't agree with it.
