Hmmm. Dunno what to think, was 100% sure he'd hang on till end of the season but not be there next year.

Are they thinking a stop-gap kinda year in '26, another 12 months and additional draft/trade period to re-tool the list? Maybe not the craziest idea, not like much was gonna happen next year regardless of who was coach - 1 less crap year a new coach would have to absorb?

But there'll certainly be some miffed supporters.

Carlton’s issues go far beyond sacking Voss. They’ve sacked coaches all century and are nowhere near top 4. The best thing to happen was that toxic president sending a picture of his junk around and blaming hackers only to quit, hopefully it ushers in a better quality of person to the club.

I hope Voss climbs the mountain with Carlton.

I think you can get away with a coach that isn't the best tactically if you have the right people around them. Problem is Carlton has had a coach that isnt strong tactically and assistants who aren't either. That has to be fixed if they want to keep Voss as HC and give us any chance of achieving that ultimate success.

Right decision by Carlton. Of couse we get people from other clubs being happy with this, because 'Voss sucks' and 'he'll run Carlton into the ground'. I remember in 2017, Buckley had just been resigned to keep coaching Collingwood and some Carlton supporter called up and said how pleased he was that Collingwood were doomed and he hoped Collingwood contracted him for 10 years - and the very next year Collingwood were in front with 3 minutes to go in the grand final. Just sack these coaches while they are still failures, don't give them a chance to suddenly come good and actually achieve somthing.

Just like Goodwin it had been painfully clear for a while now that Voss is just not up to it tactically. Wrong decision imo

Perfect opportunity to reunite him with Daddy Hinkley.

I understand why they have decided to back Voss in.
You would think that heads will fall around him, some new assistant coaches and a new voice.
Can't imagine what the pressure will be heading into next season.

What will be interesting is how many players are happy that Vossy is staying what that does to player movement this off season.

it doesn't really matter who their coach is, just like the next coach of Melb, they're not winning flags anytime soon, the AFL doesn't need a great coach there. the AFL put the great coaches where they want them and don't care about the rest, Coll, GC, etc.
