Im good with it.
Losing gov, jamo and Allen means our kpp stocks arent overflowing.

Still room to add another KPD so makes sense.
When the list is healthy we will have Bazzo or Brock currently as our only KPD in the wafl. Would be silly to let Bazzo go now unless we plan on adding multiple KPDs in the offseason.

agree.
Bazzo has shown enough to get 1 more year extension and at worst is depth.
The same with Cripps, deserves 1 more year as the next batch of SF/HF aren't knocking the door down.
Even if both end up as depth and playing WAFL.
We need experience and depth and they are both.

Can someone do an update with how our list is looking numbers wise? Keys ?

Hunt is someone I wouldn't have as delisted at the start of the year but I reckon his papers are stamped now.

Barnett I thought they'd be too shit scared to payout early, but perhaps not...

Cripps at least deserves his extension, one of the few seniors i can say that about. Not happy about it but it's the reality.

Main list out
Jamieson, Petrucelle, Hunt, Gov (Retired), Sheed (Retired), Allen (FA),

Rookies
Rawlinson

MSD
McCarthy (clear upgrade) Newton??

Either they're going to delist someone still under contract, they're expecting a couple to go via trade, or they've already made their mind up on Chesser and Newton....

Jack Williams would have zero trade potential and has had a very disappointing 2025. He's looked unfit and played terribly. Bailey is a known quantity, and I'd retain him.
I think he'd hold some value still, bigs tend to hold value regardless of output to a certain degree and he's young enough to be traded on potential still.
And he's transformed his body shape a lot since he was drafted
Collingwood could be interested for sure

That puts us at 5 free list spots and Livingstone, Chesser plus Tom Cole as the only players not listed without a contract.

We will likely need 3 more players to go too. I do expect a surprise trade or two. I think Liam Ryan and Jack Williams may be traded out

The coach has thrown out the challenge to him by playing the 2 rookies Reid and Shanahan in front of him .JWilliams hasn’t responded yet maybe he’s not suited to the wet conditions Or just out of form ..
This year JWilliams has looked slow and lumbering. Looks larger too.

Not sure if this was part of a master plan but for JWilliams it doesn't seem to have worked in 2025.

Old mate Cole still without a contract too.

This is very odd.

Out of all the players recently without a contract, he'd be at the top of my list to keep. Plays a very handy game for the Beagles, was one of our best players vs Melbourne and generally speaking plays his role at AFL level.

Wonder if the bloke has told the club he's keen to get back to vic or something.

Tried earlier in the week and Keys will be better at this than me.

Only using out of contract blokes, plus losing Allen to FA, and paying Barnett out early. Sounds like Cripps and Bazzo are being retained.

Exiting main list: Allen, Hunt, Jamieson, Petch, Barnett

Exiting rookie list: Rawlinson.

This doesn’t include Sheed (list spot used for McCarthy) or McGovern (straight swap for Waterman coming off LTI). They are already accounted for in my mind.

Leaves us with five main list spots, and one rookie spot.

Add one main list spot as Chesser or Cole go (both unlikely imo).

Add one rookie spot as Livingstone or Newton go.

With five picks in the first two rounds, and a possible priority pick to be traded, it doesn’t leave a lot of room.

Has been one of our best in his last four or five AFL games, and is consistently best on when sent back to Beagles. Literally the perfect use of an end of the list spot, very odd they’ve progressed with Cripps before him as an example.

don't think so.
Just no need to announce anything if their already agreed on terms for an extension.
We are trying to bring in experience and he is 1 player who deserves an extension.
I would be very worried if I am Chesser, Livingstone, Barnett.
Depending on trades Flynn might be playing WAFL?

Apologies if I’ve misinterpreted your suggestion.

If Brisbane match, they don’t hand us those picks. The spend them to satisfy the points price required to match. They disappear from the order.

For example if there was a matched bid on Annable at Pick 1, we’d just shuffle down a place from 1/2/Hawks pick/19 to 2/3/Hawks pick+1/20, we wouldn’t acquire the picks Brisbane used to pay up for him.

Yes absolutely, my bad I definitely misunderstood the bid matching system. Thanks for letting me know :)

Well he was literally endorsed by Flynn only a day ago to turn into a successful ruckman and its not often we pay out players early without an injury reason. Zac Langdon is the only one I can think of.
I'd argue that whilst the whole we've done things x way for x long is a valid argument, Nisbettt being the constant up until now changes that.

I'd bet good money he's gone. Despite being this crap, we still have a lack of list spots.

I think BW is a better player than Flynn.

He's quicker, a better forward, better defensively and the rule changes will help him.

Flynn is a pretty good mark around the ground but slow AF. His tap work is a bees dick better but not good enough for a number 1.
Think BWill at a new club playing mostly as KPF could surprise. He’s been recruited as a KPF but been dropped into the ruck, then ruck#2, then forward then WAFL then …

He is an athlete and he has a dip. Might be one we trade and regret.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Chesser and Cole. I would have said before last week that Chesser's papers were stamped but wing is an area of need and he might save himself. I can't imagine we will be getting rid of Cole just yet but I expect an extension might depend on the likes of Starcevich and McVee. He's another I would like to start next season in the WAFL though.
