In fairness to Schoenberg we’d all written his obituaries to the extent it’s a bit easy to ignore he’s put together the exact standard of season in the reserves that you’d hope for someone of his talent and experience.

I’m not as long on him as others. When fit and in form there’s a footballer there

There’s a SANFL footballer there and that’s it. Absolutely zero reason for him to be getting games ahead of Draper.

I know he'll likely get squeezed out this round but being included in the squad ahead of Crouch and Draper is interesting

We seem to have decided that anyone labelled with "youth" that's not already in the best 22 is essentially done for the rest of the season.

I do agree, him being ahead of Crouch is a statement.

I mean, of that bench you'd expect Peatling and Hinge to be definitely in (unless one of them needs a rest), and Borlase is definitely only cover for a tall defender, and so you need to pick 3 out of the remaining 5.

Think Taylor is safe (though mainly because Cook and previously Pedlar have made his output look good by comparison). Then come the questions: is Jones a rusted on sub? Does Pedlar get rotated back in despite his consistently lacklustre output this season? Schoenberg still exists?

Or do we turn to the Eternal Him, He Who Haunts Our Nightmares, the One and Only, the Human Missile, the Man, the Myth, the New Mackay, the Merch Seller:

Would have much preferred we experiment with a medium forward like Nankervis rather than keeping 3 talls.

Don't know why Nank couldn't even make the extended squad.

I get the feeling that we're really hoping Pedlar fires. He's getting repeat chances despite not doing much with them. The coaching staff must have some belief in him. Giving him every opportunity.

I think people keep forgetting he came off a very limited prep, so it makes sense to give him a year at the lower level ala the aforementioned Curtin.

Curtin played the last 5 games of last season.

I don't think we'd have done that if we were in the mix for finals.

Finals player, he’s tough and goes extremely hard at the ball, can see how they’d want him in the team for our finals push. Definitely a role for him when the games hot.


He won’t get 15+, he doesn’t do much but he’s tough and you can’t teach tough. A lot of the time though… being tough is enough for finals footy

I don't think we'd have done that if we were in the mix for finals.

Probably not no, but I dont think its a huge issue.

Hopefully we get a full pre season into Sid and he has a Curtin-like 2nd season

C squad? We are only resting Tex, Laird is back. Rachele and MM the only other two out from our best team.

It’s basically as full strength as we have been since the recent injuries.

I reckon they play Schoenberg based on my theory they pick the first five out of the eight named on the bench

Would line up with our history of selecting guys we are planning on delisting at the end of the year.

Disappointing that Schoenberg is named in front of Dowling and Draper when he is odds on to get delisted this year.

Id be surprised.... but i wouldn't.

Youd be hard pressed to find too many 2nd tier comp tall forwards who'd do better.

Hope he gets on the end of a few on Sunday.

If we delist Burgess Port would pick him up in a heartbeat.

He’s good depth. No reason to **** him off for the sake of it.
