After looking at it, it looks more like Howe ran into Newcombe at full pace and came off second best. Newcombe appeared to be slowing down to contest the ball as he saw Howe coming and Howe just didn't slow whatsoever.

If anything this was Howe hitting Newcombe
It's a weird one. Newcombe is 100% looking at Howe but he doesn't bump. If anything, he almost comes to a stop by the time they come together, but Howe is focused only on the ball and doesn't break stride.

For the record, I think most people thought May was ridiculously stiff.
Newcombe and Howe had a head clash, and it wasn't a 'bump' from Newcombe went wrong and caused the damage.
I genuinely do not understand how he could get weeks for that. He hit him with face. Who the hell would do that if they had the chance not to?
The only reason the situation unfolded the way it did is because Newcombe is actually made of concrete.
