Lol it won't do my argument any favours, but in the same game vs Meek earlier in the season... our thicc boy Matt Flynn had

16D, 10CP, 5 intercepts, 7 score involvements, 4 clearances, 26 hitouts and was the highest ranked Eagle on the ground.

Basically better numbers than Cameron had in every metric last night besides ranking points (handful less) ^

Lloyd was also BOG that game as well, by an even bigger amount than he was last night.

So we know Flynn can do it

Just doesn't want to

One bad game hardly means Cameron is a spud nor should we not target him.

Good lord, the knee jerk on this board each and every week is next level.

Cameron still had 16D, 7CP, 3 intercepts, 3 score involvements, 3 clearances and 24 hitouts to be his team's highest ranked player by CD. 3rd highest on the ground behind Meek and Newcombe.

Unfortunately big boy Lloyd did him in as Hawthorn ran rampant, but that's not terrible for us if it lowers his trade value.

not really. last night is a good taste of how he will be when he plays for us where we get beaten week after week. its amazing how good he actually looks when the rolls Royce midfield isn't performing hey?

severely overrated.

I'm at home, with the whole family. We all have influenza B. (Worse virus I've ever had)

I think I'm losing my mind as I've read the last 3 pages and find myself agreeing with GoEaglesGoSGIO, several times.

What TF is going on.

Also, has Smotie2 always been this angry?
geez mate, hope you get better soon.
I am at the tail end of 2 weeks of that bl..dy thing, worst I have had since covid!

The thing about Flynn is that at least he dominates WAFL level. He's too good for state footy. As he should, with his size and experience. If he wasn't on our list and we looked at his WAFL numbers we'd be keen for sure ✅

At AFL level he's actually got quality games in him too.

Against the bombers in round 2 he had 19D, 9CP's 7 marks, 4 contested, 5 intercepts, 4 score involvements 28 hitouts and 141 ranking points to be the best eagle afield and arguably BOG with Martin and Peter Wright.

Against St Kilda, where his direct opponent was BOG, he still put up 17D, 11CP's, 5 clearances, 5 marks, 6 score involvements 30 hitouts and a goal to be the Eagles best.

I've already mentioned the Hawks game, similar numbers, Eagles best but his direct opponent also BOG.

There's a quality player here, already on our list who's still only 27.

Big lumps issue is that he simply cannot curtail his direct opponent. It's quite bizarre, I put Flynn better than Blicavs/Stanley and some other spud rucks, but you don't see them constantly ponying up career games to their opponent like he and Bailey do. It's a defensive thing.

He's around Nank level IMO. Frustrates me to tears but this is his first proper season coming back from constant injuries mind you. He's never played this many AFL games in a season before.

Could be we just let the big boy cook 👨‍🍳 Move on from Bailey as the poor man's forward and just go Flynn/Archer as our pairing next year

Were we Yay or Nay on Hobbs, out of contract wouldnt cost much....
Another from the bombers is Setterfield out of contract when played as an inside mid racks it up

My other issue with Flynn is that his tapwork is really substandard. Noticed it live in the derby.

Don't know if you can be a quality player if you're the most sharked ruckman in the league. (And if your direct opponent is BOG most weeks.)

I think you're on the money, DS.
The worst thing that could've happened to us and him re his development was his freak injury last year. Came back gassed, still finding his feet this year and just tires so much and fades out of games.

He has strengths. He has some good games and really horrible games, but when he's good you do notice it.

Hmm..

Davies > Setterfield > Hobbs > Phillips > Robertson.

Not terribly enthused by any of them, but we do have a very weak midfield roster.

Unless we get some AFL assistance, we are getting pretty tight for list spots next year with a good number of first and second rounders, plus a heap of potential NGA/FS players. Would love Duncan in an off-field role, but not sure he’s what we need on field at 35 years of age.
Duncan is beyond cooked. Should have retired at the end of the last year. Would be insane to pick him up and have him take a list spot
