What does the ladder look like now, mate?
Couldn't tell ya
Am I meant to be impressed they almost lost to Richmond..
Go back to your board. You’ve got bigger problems to worry about without stirring the pot here champ! You should be impressed— Saints are having a better season than Port.
No wonder Nasiah doesn’t want to go there.

That's not hard.
Saints poster says saints are on the rise, I guess 11th is higher than 12th.
Saints making big moves up the ladder.
Was tactical to give GC a better draft pick.Better than going from 2nd to 12th
Better than going from 2nd to 12th
You seem to be focusing on the fact I'm a port supporter.. I haven't bring Richmond into this have I?
It's all a bit odd that you just lost to that mob but you're in here shilling for them.
Jog on
My team of support doesn’t matter, mate.
Neither does yours.
My point is that St Kilda’s ladder position is currently higher this year than last season AND its higher than the most discussed alternate option for NAS to play for.
Why would he leave St Kilda who is on the rise to spend the next 5 years in a side down the bottom third of the ladder without the draft capital to rebuild
He’s going to be on ridiculous money wherever he goes. Port (except for this year) have been very competitive and he has some of his best mates and family at the club.
Why would he stay at St Kilda? When they’re almost losing to a deeply rebuilding Richmond?
St Kildas history is pretty embarrassing though.A few reasons:
- To continue playing with his housemate
- To be part of a club that is improving, not going off a cliff
- To play at a club that will be able to bring in other young talent to play alongside that will further improve the team. St Kilda has their first round pick and won’t need to trade anything to keep NAS.
In contrast Port Adelaide doesn’t have a first round pick & will likely have to request an exemption to existing rules from the AFL to trade their 2026 & 2027 first rounders to St Kilda to have enough trade capital for the Saints to let him go
NWM is worth more now than Jeremy Cameron was.keeping it on topic, I see no evidence of inflationary pressures in the player trade market that you assert.
Shai Bolton had 4 years left on a contract Richmond and there is generally a steep premium to be paid for a contracted player and this is what played out in his case.
Rankine merely retained his value.
Jeremy Cameron was much more decorated at the time he was traded than NWM is now and there is generally a premium to be paid for key forwards in trade capital.
I see NWM as a very good player, but the hyperbole evident in assessing his value isn’t supported by the evidence.
Has a lot of strong ties to Saints players, Brad Hill, Marcus Windhager, Mitch Owens, Isaac Keeler. Saints are going to bring in Tex Wanganeen who is Nas' cousin. Only thing that SA have that the Saints don't is his mum.Why would he stay at St Kilda?
That's the same team that beat Port at home earlier in the year. When they’re almost losing to a deeply rebuilding Richmond?
Absolute rubbish that gets dribbled on here about having to accept the picks a club has is ridiculous. This is why you have multi team trades take Adelaide for example we would be telling them to take there multiple late firsts and trade them for even one goodIf Curtin asked for a trade at the end of his contract to WC, and he is one of the best players in the competition, and WC only had pick 17 and a future 1st to offer, what do you think we could do?
Nothing. Either send him to the PSD for nothing, or get the most we can get from them, and if they dont have any players that want to come here that are of any value, we get screwed over dont we.
If however, WC have pick 1 or 2, then we will get a better deal. You just have to accept that there is an element of luck involved. Hopefully the player chooses a team that has draft picks around what you value him at.
Was it fair that Hawthorn only got pick 19 for Buddy? No. Was it fair that North got pick 2 for McKay? No. Will it be fair when WC get pick 2 for Allen? No.
Will it be unfair if St Kilda only get two late firsts and a young player for Nas? Yes.
No one is expecting to get absolute fair value for him , but thinking you can get a trade done for the best young player in the competition with 3 picks that will probably end up in the twenties buy the time those drafts come around is not being very realistic is itWe are talking about what's fair. You arnt guaranteed to get a players worth if they decide to leave.
Theres plenty of clubs who have been stiffed when a player has decided to leave. At Kilda arnt immune to that.
Its what was offered initially. I imagine its upped. The offer he has now from St Kilda is apparently 2 year 1.4 mill per year deal
That is a absolutely insanely bad contract to sign. If NAS signs that he is a moron. Put in a 6 year player option for sure and push 1.4 into more your 1.8 mill range over the entire deal
I think both south Australian clubs started chasing him last season and were not really expecting him to have the breakout level season he is having this year which have left both of them struggling for sufficient assets to get it done , especially port who have high level nga father son picks coming up that has them in a near impossible situationJust a little note re Nas who I can’t keep thinking about him wearing the tricolours and running around AO in front of a packed house.
Must admit I don’t normally watch too many Saints games but they are compelling viewing right now to see how this young champ performs. The whole industry was left stunned by heroics against Dees and for 4-6 weeks now he is showing he is just an unstoppable force. Great to watch him and love seeing his skills.
Only problem IF he does leave - and most true footy fans I think would actually be happy to see him stay loyal to the Saints as he means so much to them - is the asking price just keeps going up each week. Both his contract $$ and probably length of contract, and what Saints can reasonably expect from any acquiring club to ensure they are compensated in a fair and equitable manner. No doubt in my mind the most expensive and scrutinised trade in AFL history is coming.
Hope both SA clubs are prepared for this!
Saints were younger than Richmond todayWhy would he stay at St Kilda? When they’re almost losing to a deeply rebuilding Richmond?
