The way to approach Duncan as a player / coach is a pick up in the SSP or midseason draft 2nd pick.

We wait until Feb 21, if an injury opens up a spot bring him in. If two LTI's exist mid seas9n 2026 bring him on.

He can play WAFL at any stage.

Do not burn a list spot pre draft on Duncan. We CAN " have our cake and eat it too".

We do not need Duncan round 1 2026. He can help in many other ways. IE play for Beagles, be a 2nd pick in the MSD on a 6 month contract.
Duncan isn't a 22 year old kid looking for an opportunity

Correct he’s a 34 year old knackered player. If he’s good enough to be a coach get him as a coach. Pass on him taking a list spot

Just explained how Duncan can play next season without taking up a list spot.

I agree, dont waste a list spot on Duncan pre draft.

Sign him as a Beagle. He can be added to the Eagles list prior to Feb 21 2026 if we get a LTI.

He could be added at our 2nd pick in the 2026 MSD if we lose players to LTI. (Use our 2026 1st MSD pick on best available)

In the mean time he is the Beagles captain and playing coach.

No Duncan is a revered multiple premiership player, leader and an asset our club is dearly lacking.

We are overflowing with kids under 22 looking for opportunity, with very little senior support showing how its done.

34 years old at the start of next season is taking the piss though

Say what you want about who is getting what contract but what is the possible reason for us to be giving these contracts out this early?

Why would we not wait til the end of the trade period for guys like Bazzo and Cripps. We are seemingly closing up shop by saying "well we only have X amount of spots so we cant entertain you" . If player agents have money signs flashing when they dream and decide they want to offer us players, what do we do for example. What if we target Erasmus, Davies and Steele and all 3 said yes? Are we like "Sorry Neil, Jamie wants to play another season"

The list strategy just looks cowardly... We should be making players wait. After all they havnt exactly earnt the right to not wait...

Kid needs to bulk up and build his endurance.

No questions about his intent and competitive nature, decent skills and quick. Didnt take long to earn a contract extension.

Was touted as a late 1st rounder and slid. Would be our best mid in the WAFL side in his 1st year.

And wasn't he the bonus pick we got for dropping our Baker pick back 1 spot for Port Power?

Re Duncan, we shouldn't be going there, even with more list spots. The ONLY reason to go down that path with him as a player is for him to play Beagles on an AFL salary. Even then, I would rather attempt to use those funds to lure players who will contribute.
We need to invest in the beagles. At the moment we have ex WAFL players coaching them, Brennan, Horsley and Trewhella should join Webster at the Centerlink queque.

Peter Bell... so take it with s grain of sslt.

Im not super informed on it, but I thought spending beyond the soft cap and paying the tax means that WAFC makes less money, so they'll nix it?

Makes for pretty grim reading if they don't do some player trades, Nth also.
Fingers 🤞 they don't...😊

Port, Melbourne, Carlton and North can all generate capital through trades. I'm not sure what Collingwood has to offer that they can afford to part with.

He definitely needs to do this over the summer. Will take him to the next level once he achieves this. Also needs to improve his awareness too.

Just out of curiosity what are we basing the claims that Duncan is a leader and capable coach?

100% this.. especially
Players who no one else will have any interest in like Cripps.. he is not owed anything by the footy club at this time
