Yeah I'm a Bews fan but would probable need an injury to make the starting side, sub v the lions as a saver if Charlie was getting off the chain could be helpfull.

I like Bews too, but if the criticism of Shark is that he's slow to move the ball on (an assessment I dispute) then replacing him with Bews would not be the solution.

Bews is probably the only one who could still come in.
Break Glass in Case of Emergency stuff, though.

There are other options to go for first in case of a defensive injury, regardless. Kolo, Martin moves to half-back again, Bowes to defence. Even Knevitt can play back if he has to. I think the fact that Bews isn't even being named as emergency is telling here.

I get SDK is not as he once was.. but he not useless either

But sending a 192cm Kolo or similar vs 203, 206 and 208cm forwards ain’t gonna cut it either.
We need his height on the tallest forwards IMO.

Go Catters

I'm getting sick of saying this but he's the player who gives us flexibility with Blits and to some degree Stanley, not in anyway is this directed at you Daz.

Players with urgency who don't jog on the spot or run around in circles. We have a big list.
If we have such a big list, you should have no trouble naming the players who will replace the two tall players mentioned above.

This is a quote from Chris Scott in his press conference on Friday night:

(he's talking about COS) "It is exciting for us to sit back and think that he and Sam De Koning can play together for another 10 or 15 years. That would be a pretty good combination based on what we are seeing at the moment."

Sounds like CS considers SDK will be our key tall defender for the next decade.

Bit worried about Chris’s conception of time here. In 15 years DK will be 39.

Everyone in the league is on Jezza 100 watch but after Friday night Atkins is only 9 tackles off the all time record of 202 with 2 games and likely 2 finals to play.

That's a good reason to storm the oval
I you can get passed Atkins

Crazy thing is it's possible he'll hold the record for a single game. Rowell is only 5 tackles behind him with a game in hand.

Only bloke I'd like to see come into the side is Conway
Only thing stopping him may be lack of match fitness.
If stakes wen't so high next week. Sub Stanley mid Q3

He should be in. Plain and simple.
Actually knows how to defend his man. Still has some speed and has a very good side step.

Bonkers that our best small defender cannot get a game.

Who’s he replace? I like Bews and can see him coming in on a horses for courses basis if we play a team with multiple dangerous small forwards but he’s outside our best 23 atm. Kicking skills out of defensive 50 aren’t great which is probably why he’s being overlooked currently.

You need a versatile player as a sub like Martin or a Bowes type.

He shouldn't be. That's the issue.
MOC is an easy replacement. Mullin if they're not mid tagging as he's a bog average as a small defender.

Papley has been poor this year, he kicks a bag on us on Sunday while we leave an actual defender in the reserves I'll be doubly pissed. Once for him being shit all year, and once for still not having a quality small defender in the side.

Conway was injured in the vfl on the weekend

As for the 23 from Friday danger and Martin will come back for Clark and knevitt.
No one else will get into the 23 except maybe Duncan but if we get no injuries it will be no change. Duncan bews etc will miss out.
