I haven't given up on it this year Grannie. I think we'll re-group and frankly if we win it or get really close you'd go around again. But if our midfield pace gets exploited with no real solution for 2026, you'd need to be looking to reset - which will take salary cap, as I doubt we'll target the draft.
I haven't given up this year either, it's not over until the fat lady sings, right?
Never actually knew what that meant haha.
I agree with the rest of what you said.

During the great depression, vaudeville decided that at the end of musical presentations, they would put a fat lady out the front, wearing a steel cap with horns, to end every musical. She would sing the national anthem

I heard from a WA person, (through my employment) who is in a CEO position within the financial sector in Perth, who came to Melbourne last week for a meeting and "knows" people within the West Coast walls.
He was saying that WC weren't at all confident that they would get anywhere near landing DC about 8 to 10 weeks ago, but that has all changed in the last month. They now feel they are going to be able to have him back in WA next year.
I was one that always said he would never leave, and the club would get a contract agreed with him. I think l even said "take it to the bank". I'm now getting my head around that he is more than likely not wearing a Collingwood jumper next year.
This was a conversation at a work lunch, that went into after work drinks, so drinks were had, lol.
I wasn't going to mention anything about that on here, but it seems to be brewing and discussed and getting frustrating, so here we are...
This person isn't a WC supporter by the way, he still is a Collingwood member (which surprised me) despite re- locating from Victoria to WA with his family to take up a new role, nearly 10 years ago...
I'm sorry to hear this but maybe the fact that Collingwood isn't giving him what he wants ( whatever that is) and a good offer from WA, he might think it a good time to move back to WA.
He's getting married and no doubt will want to start a family before too long. His family is there, not sure about his fiance's family.
Saying that, I hope he stays, would hate to lose him.

I reckon vaudeville must have been great fun. Might have to go and watch Yankee Doodle Dandy later. 🤣

I feel bad . I completely fabricated that story but man, it sounded so real that I nearly believed it myself. Sorry grannie, just trying to shake out the negativity from my system

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Thanks manic, you just gave me the best laugh I've had for weeks.
Maybe you should turn your talent to writing short stories, you could call them Come in Spinner 🤣

Be honest, you would have believed it if I didn't come clean.
The beauty of Balderdash is that no one knows the real answer so it would have worked brilliantly - I knew the real answer to this one and thus knew yours was clever bullshit. If we had've stuck of with the tradition of castration to keep boys sopranos, the saying would be: it's not over until the nutless bloke sings.

Que sera sera.
If DC goes to WC, we'll get a ruckman - maybe Marshall if TDK goes to the aints.
Or Reeves from the undies.
And Steene is developing well.
If it gets us a decent draft pick, so much the better.
I'd still prefer him to stay.

That last bit shouldn't surprise - if you're serious about your team, you never change.

Agree Pexxy - A lot of straw manning of the club to make points

Fuelled in part by the grifting of Johnny Ralph
Probably some truth in what Ralph is saying. It's an ugly reality of salary cap management that you get offered less if you're already at a club than if you're not. Got to piss some off. But it's business time and I think they'll re-group and re-focus on a last hurrah - even if they're out at the end of the year.

The way the draft is being described, there aren't any decent picks.
Find it hard to believe that you can have a great year and a dud year of kids coming along.

I think Ralph puts forward a plausible hypothesis without evidence

people then run with it even when there is significant disconfirming evidence

this is the Continued Influence Effect

it intersects with Primacy Effect and Cognitive Dissonance

powerful form of manipulating groups

Ralphy is pernicious - like a rectal wart

Except apparently we've got certs in-coming in the second and third round ...

Getting a pick 1 or 2 is dreaming for Cameron. But I think we can push for their current second rounder (for desperately needed points) and their f2 which could basically be end of first round pick.

There will be good players in there - let's hope ShaneO has done his homework.

Can we get Oscar Allen if Cameron goes to WC?

Don’t roast me, but conceptually, would we get much if we tried to trade Moore mid-contract? A great human being but wonder if our future captain is elsewhere and have viewed him as a bit of a liability in the backline lately

Not seeing what it achieves. We need him
