Ah, who cares? They brought a pressure rating over 200 all game (ours was high too), which wasn’t the case earlier in the season. They’ve also done this against Brisbane, Collingwood and Geelong this season, no idea why they save it for the best sides but we aren’t the first to cop a scare from them this year.

I think a lot of supporters would care that we performed much worse against them today than we did earlier in the season.

We've played better games under high pressure against actual flag contenders than we did today

They’ve done it against all of the top 4 sides this year now and all 4 took until the 4th quarter to eventually break away from them. For whatever reason they then revert to apply zero pressure against fellow cellar dwellers.

I was going to say. We were in with a shot against Geelong in the last. We led Brisbane for three quarters at the Gabba. We led Collingwood for 2 and a half away. I was expecting a good half today, but we hung in there a lot longer Shame we haven’t been able to convert a few of the true winnable games, but what can you do.

Well I was not happy that in a high pressure game, the 18th placed side were in the lead for half the match and leading half way through the 4th quarter

(Keeping in mind we also applied a high level of pressure to West Coast according to the broadcast, so West Coast were handling the pressure better than us for large portions of the game)

Credit to West Coast for bringing their best. I thought we handled their pressure terribly, we were miles off our best and if we play like that in a pressure final, we will be demolished

we did that several times when the side was full of young players 3/4 years ago. They have good talent.

There's two separate things at play though.

Are we still in a great position to win the flag? Yes, because we won.

Did we play terribly and got out of jail big time? Also yes

I think all four teams did the same thing: got complacent and played like shit against a poor team, thinking they would easily win.

We aren't the only side that succumbs to that problem.

Sometimes the good teams are so complacent and arrogant they lose. Like Gold Coast against Richmond earlier in the year.

And in the reverse we used to do that to other teams in the 2021 era. They wouldn't rock up and we'd ambush them.

Just because we had this issue doesn't mean it was inevitable. It was pretty clear from Thilthorpe's... shaky interview after the game that we didn't expect West Coast to play that well, and that's on us for underpreparing
