We lost it when they unwind the 2019 assistance package
If that's true then you'd think it's a part of a greater exit strategy for us. I suspect the club always knew we were going to start contending around 2025-26 and that would coincide with our Darwin contract expiring. Ideally, we'd keep playing one game a year in Darwin, most likely in Indigenous Round, but as an away team against the likes of North Melbourne. That would be best. That way we get two of our home games back at PFS and give Gold Coasters greater opportunities to watch their team playing exciting, high level footy.

Playing games in Darwin has certainly contributed significantly to our ability to recruit. I'm sure Long and Rioli were more inclined to play for us because they knew they were going to get the opportunity to play in their hometown of Darwin and their delight was pretty obvious over the last fortnight. I hope we can keep building on that NT link because it's going to pay dividends for us later down the track, but I wouldn't want it to be at the expense of growing the game on the GC while we're a genuine premiership contending team.

If your shopping list was Sam Walsh, Kiddie Coleman, Zac Bailey, Willie Rioli, Maurice Rioli jr, Jesse Motlop, or even Brandan Parfitt who is available next week in the MSRD, who do you like?

Walsh is clearly the best player you've listed there so I'm taking him if he's available. Coleman is/was great but he plays the same position as D.Rioli and Noble so we don't actually need him. The rest are small forwards and that is actually a position of need for us. Zac Bailey would be a good pickup but he's not going to leave the Lions. Realistically, I think Jesse Motlop could be gettable (off contract this year) and I'd be going after him over W.Rioli or M.Rioli.

I don't hate the idea of recruiting Parfitt in the MSD to bolster our midfield stocks and grow our NT connection, but I think West Coast are eyeing him off and they have a pick before us.

Just as an aside
I’ve lived long enough to see a player self reporting an inappropriate on field personal comment with obvious remorse get more weeks than a player who punched an opponent in a premeditated act of violence and whose only regret is he was charged
In future Wil just punch the guy in the face

Not venting.....but is offtopic.....
I don't get to watch any games, only highlights or Mini-matches, even full replays aren't permitted outside of Australia...
I should clarify by saying there is a website available but the buffering is unbelievable in most games and I generally exit before 1/4 time...just not worth the effort...

In the videos I am able to watch, I would like to know if anyone else has the same opinion as me, that Rowell has increased his speed from the contest a helluva lot more than what he was capable of in 2024......he seems to me this year, to be more like a "Butters" than a "Cripps"..........and I'm loving it....

Just to confirm for trying to be helpful purposes, Choppers

You're talking about WatchAFL giving you the buffering issues?

No not that one.....I've paid for them with my Suns M'ship most years and never had a problem with buffering, but when they put it up from $190 to $285, and I had 3 free websites avail.....I gave it a miss this year......BUT....2 of those websites went offline at the same time.....
I contacted Suns only a few weeks ago to see if I could access watchAFL for the rest of this year as part of my current M'ship and they still wanted $285 for the few remaining games, so I declined........Membership falls due in November for 2026 so I'll subscribe then, as long as it doesn't increase in price too much......still got to watch my Pension pennies, even if living here is cheaper than Oz.....
