If McCarthy keeps doing what hes doing, what does that mean for our list build going forward? Especially if he stays in the midfield?

Lets assume he makes it as an outside/transition mid.
Do we shift from drafting basically exclusively mids with first round picks this year to targeting Lindsay/Farrow more to be that distributor off half back? We dont really have anybody else to do it
Last year we thought hutch might transition into a midfielder.
Mccarthy will need to show a lot in the next two games

So we are using all avenues are we to improve our list Pyke and co.....??

Bullshit

Once again the club fails to land a quality player

Jackson English Warner and now Cameron

It just shows if you go half arse ....you get F**k all

Poor again by the Eagles
This screams "cut off your legs to lose weight" style of list management.
I want our list to be better in 5 and 10 years time, not just next season.

We need to keep hitting the top end of the draft, retaining promising players, and topping up with Graham/Baker types when we get the opportunity. See Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Collingwood, Gold Coast, Freo...

Well that's a whole pile of negativity whilst shovelling praise Richmond's way.

Interesting points raised by some.

Richmond's huge draft haul haven't delivered alot at all. But are still young enough for people to think they will ALL make it.

That's not how the draft works. DGB pick 6 now delisted.

Our youngsters have been in the system for several years and those like a Chesser are being written off.

Punters havent written off any of the Tigers draftees yet Smillie hasn't debuted and has picked up another injury. Lalor who ripped his hammie off the bone pre draft has injured the same hammie twice in his 1st season. Twice.

Hotton coming off an acl has done some nice things g's in several late games.

The talls are taking time.

Don't agree with the negativity around splitting pick 3 last year.

I'm looking forward to 2026 for real improvement. These player have just hit 50 games or will in the 1st half of 2026

Ginbey
Hough
Maric
Hutchings
Hewett
H Reid
Brockman
J Williams
Possibly Chesser if he gets an extension.

When will the Tigers kids hit 50 plus games?
You call it negative i call it saying it how it is .
You have always been an apologist in how poorly the club is run .

No surprises there .

I keep saying that it's the process I'm praising Richmond for . Not the selections as we won't know for a few years . Not all will make it some will but just be role players but they gave themselves the best opportunity to succeed .

We keep cutting ourselves off at the knees in the trade period then we don't give ourselves the best opportunity at the draft .

Don't get me wrong I feel our draft guys have been pretty good of late .

It would be nice if our trade guys would grow a set and not make our draft team have to dig ourselves out of a hole .

If you remember we were trying to trade our future 1st last draft night to get shanahan.

Imagine if we didn't have our first rounder atm .

Back to the drawing board with our rucks it seems

Flynn and Bailey are going to keep just getting games out of default. What a gift being tall is when it comes to how long your AFL career goes for. Reckon Bailey and Jilliams are now both safe on our list as well, no trades there.

I'm still keen on pulling the trigger and getting behind A.Reid as our ruckman this offseason, but he also seems to pick up injuries and rucking won't help that.

Soldo isn't much of an upgrade on Flynn IMO. CDT is going to be a real threat in the draft though, that's a bit annoying. Was keen on the the Sharp/Durs combo.

It's a no brainer from Cameron. Why would anyone in the flag window want to come to any club at the bottom .

We should go after Reidy . He is the best ruck not getting a regular game that would come to a WA club.

He may not be a superstar but as we saw with Jordan sweet sometimes all you need is a good tap ruck that can break even .

Seems crazy that the dream is to just break even in the ruck 🤣

CDT and Sharp or Dursma for me🙏

We were offering Hawthorn's F1

Can you tell me why?

The undersized ruckman who isn't actually good at ruck craft, but you want to blow our first pick on him. presumably to have another undersized ruck/fwd on our list like Bailey?

It makes no sense.

Richmond 100% nailed it in how to rebuild. The players they chose we will have to wait and see

- They exited senior players with value and extracted maximum value no future picks . They also kept a skeleton crew of older players across all lines and kept a competent midfield toranto hopper prestia mcintosh nankervis to then add the new mids around

- used their top 3 picks on mids

- used the rest of their 1st rounders on talls at the start of their rebuild.

- then traded a 20s pick + F2nd for what is now pick 2 before FA compos

it would be a wet dream west coast coming out and showing competency like that .

In comparison we have a torrent of abuse and comments from our own fans for trading pick 3 and commentators laughing at how stupid we are .

To then be told that it was part of a bigger picture and we wouldn't know it all till after trade period

Waiting GIF
Except we didn't have a skeleton crew of older players across all lines or competent midfield that we could build around. Most of our senior players that were any good have fallen off a cliff or are injured. We had very little of value that we could have unloaded but did with Barrass and look like we will do the same with Oscar this year. We therefore necessarily have needed to get some experience in the door to actually build around (and I was not a fan of the pick three trade and subsequent pick used for Baker but think Baker he has been excellent for us).

Sure, we could and should have rebuilt earlier but that really only became totally apparent when our best players engaged in a mass extinction event and have been unable to get on the park due to injury, which at the same time made their trade value next to zero.

Richmond's hand was also largely forced by several players they wanted to retain, wanting to leave. So it is not all down to great management.

If we draft CDT, he's not going to solve our rucks issues in 2026 as a 19 year old. He's too young and raw for that

We'd still need another mature ruck option to challenge Flynn and Billiams.

Jackson was never coming to us.
English offer was huge. Wasn't about the $
Warner would've come had they won the flag. I hope when we are competing Harley has same attitude about sticking fat with his mates to try and nab one.
Cameron wasn't worth more than what we offered in terms of both $ and draft capital.

Sell the farm for everyone!!!

Tim Kelly exists

No not like that!!!

He is not undersized ( expect 203cm + at the combine), and his ground level play is excellent. Good football skills, good tank and a great leap.

Reminds me of Jackson with the way he covers the ground, like a midfielder can get out and creates play. Couple him with Harley and it will be something special.

I still think Ivan Soldo is worth a look as a stop-gap for a couple of years. Out of favour at Port, could be interested in a move.

My last info was that Soldo wants to return to Melbourne and after TDK goes to the Saints, he will get dragged along in the ruck merry go round and find himself a home back in Melbourne.

Our best bet is to also throw our hand into the same merry go round and see if we can lure a ruck upgrade to join us.

Won't be easy to convince someone to join us, as we are so shitty a team at the minute.

To all those celebrating and happy that Cameron is now off the table, don't bitch , moan and complain next year when we once again get smashed in the clearances and at stoppages ( and consequently not win games ).

I feel that Archer will be a very good option BUT - long term in three to four years time, so if we miss out on securing any sort of upgrade in the ruck position, then we are stuck with the substandard ruck combination that we currently have.

So I tend to agree with those who are resigned with the fact, that our ruck situation won't be improved for the 2026 season and we will again be stuck with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

"Expecting" him to be 203cm at the combine is a hope and a prayer. He either is or he isn't.

They didn’t though.

A bunch of senior players all asked to leave at the same time, and they fought incredibly hard to keep all of them.

They extracted maximum value, no disagreement there, but this concept that Richmond saw the cliff and moved their stars on is simply untrue. They tried to retain every player they lost last offseason.

Did well to pivot into getting value mode, that’s for sure.

Talk to me about Pittonet, what’s his deal. A damn sight better than our ruck stocks but also fits the ‘so cheap it’s obviously palatable’ stopgap price.

Carlton don’t want a bar of him, no matter how often they shoehorn in a two ruck system. Worth a look?

He's about to be their number one ruck when TDK leaves.
