Provisional 2025 Draft order

Thank f for that.

People suffering from desperation and fear of missing out we’re ready to chuck a first rounder at a 31 year old short ruckman who only has a reputation because of 3-4 a grade midfielders. Including 2x all time greats.

Please.

Common sense has prevailed.

Always draft best available with first round picks, draft for need after then.

And that strategy didn't work out so well for us.

We ended up with lots of quality talls and flankers. And no mids.

And we split pick 2 to land Ginbey and Hewett. Which was the smart move rather than selecting Sheezel or Wardlaw who didn't want to leave Melbourne.

I was big on him early in the year but he’s just extended. Reeves told us to FO last year and Moyle wants to stay at GCS. Perhaps if we open the cheque book properly.
Reeves isn't getting a game now with meek in the form he is in. He might have thought he was still a shot as the number one ruck. He is 26 so perfect age profile. Offer him Cameron's contract.

So we are using all avenues are we to improve our list Pyke and co.....??

Bullshit

Once again the club fails to land a quality player

Jackson English Warner and now Cameron

It just shows if you go half arse ....you get F**k all

Poor again by the Eagles

Missing out on Cameron likely a blessing.

A sugar hit to paste over the cracks.

Would have been fine for a 2nd rounder but likely would have cost more than that.

Well, I hope this forces us to try Archer as a ruck because another year of BWill and Flynn is ****ing depressing

What's Reeves' situation?

Max Gawn.

Not sure that a ready to go ruck is all that high up on the agenda for the Eagles. Seem to like what they see in Reid.
Yeah tend to agree I think we continue with Flynn and Williams for another season.
A Reid looks a likely prospect and I think some of the development he’s doing up fwd is simply so he can play a second role as his body grows and is ready for more ruck duties.

They didn’t though.

A bunch of senior players all asked to leave at the same time, and they fought incredibly hard to keep all of them.

They extracted maximum value, no disagreement there, but this concept that Richmond saw the cliff and moved their stars on is simply untrue. They tried to retain every player they lost last offseason.

Did well to pivot into getting value mode, that’s for sure.
Thank you!

Such revisionist history with people saying Richmond were smart to push senior players out when they did the opposite.

Tried very hard to keep them, gave them a whack on the way out, but ultimately got lucky with 3 clubs arguably paying overs for their players in the end.

Well done to them, but it wasn't planned.

Article in the West today saying Dewar to defense looks like a permanent move.

That would be the rebounding attacking half back role.

Hough recal mentioned he is not certain to remain in the midfield and may return to defense.

Bo Allen Def / Mid simikar to Ginbey.

And we found a gem with McCarthy.

Duggan and Cole plus a handy lock down defender in the NGA group.
Dewar is going to have to add a 'harder edge' to his play going forward. A little light on in my eyes.

Go a skill set but needs to be harder at it - in saying that I also understand he is built a little on the lighter side and get him working next to Hough to see what is required over summer.

With the potential changes to ruck rules to do away with the wrestling, the days of the big oafs may be over. Cameron, Darcy, Flynn, ROB, etc. Add to that Cameron's age and the cost of acquiring him, and it feels like we dodged a bullet.

Yeah i'd be looking forward to what type of ruck we would need to suit leap and tap ruckwork

both Bolton and rioli were heavily contacted. If Richmond wanted to keep them they would have .

Richmond got lucky that 2 of the teams they wanted to deal with are the 2 biggest push overs in us and GC .

That is the way to maximise your trading position.

Saying we don't want to lose them whilst telling managers they might be available at the right price

Say they are a required player .

Say it would take an extraordinary deal to trade them .

Yet we say nah they are shit and won't be on a list next year then get nothing ala brander

Or say yeah pick 14 is what we will pay for Baker before we even have that pick

Archer will do more next year but he’s still 18 months (two preseasons) away from leading the ruck. He turns 20 in September.

Has mobility most big blokes don’t have, 203cm and has shown he’s a decent grab. His weakness is his kicking at goal it’s very inconsistent.

We just need to be patient there’s no sense in parting way with 1st round picks for opposing ruckman or reaching for CDT when it’s quality midfielders we need.

Whilst I see everyone’s desperation for a ready made ruck, Cameron signing with the pies may have saved ourselves from ourselves.

I think this year perfectly encapsulates the Baker trade perfectly. Very good player probably wins our bf but end of the day he's not a needle mover. Unless the trade targets are 25/26 and under and they are A grade players first rounders should be off the table for trades target thr likes of Graham use the pre season draft ect in a highly compromised era of drafting and diluted talent pools we can't afford to be generous like we have done previously

Na, its more clickbait stuff from Morris. The extra $1M is simply because we were offering 4 years.
4 years on a 30 year old ruck who would be required to get on a plane every other week is very poor list management.

We have seen countless times the travel burden cuts our talls careers short .

Here we are not willing to extend barrass then throwing ridiculous money and years at someone the same age 🙄
