But Ralphy said there was discontent!

The last sentence hinted towards Ralphy not being too far off the mark…

sr36 that really doesn’t read as an extension that was sat on! They’ve 100% resolved this after the Hawthorn debacle.

“The Collingwood players are so interesting,” Edmund told SEN Crunch Time.
“So much has been said around this space – the disgruntlement and the like. (Scott) Pendlebury, (Steele) Sidebottom and (Jeremy) Howe are all going to stay.
(Brody) Mihocek I think will get there (to re-sign). His management is overseas at the moment, and there is some wrestling over tenure.
Jamie Elliott has been offered a two-year deal but absolutely has the temptation – as he has done in the past – to get back to Queensland where his family are.
“He spent a lot of time there as a child, the Gold Coast actually haven’t got to the position yet where they’ve tabled any sort of offer, it’s just what Jamie wants to do with the rest of his career as a free agent. Two-year offer to stay, I’m told it’s a solid offer.”
Outside of their veterans, the Magpies' star ruckman has caused a stir within the walls of the club, with interest from WA causing a halt in negotiations.

“Then there’s the Darcy Cameron contract standoff, if I can call it that,” Edmund continued.
“If there is some angst in the playing group, I’m led to believe it’s tied to this guy and the empathy for him as one of the most popular players in that dressing room.
“If you are going to say that that playing group has that disgruntlement, it’s pertaining to this, rather than Jack Silvagni. The veterans on that playing list, they love the fact that their club is ambitious to try and get an established player in Jack Silvagni, because it means they’re in the window, and they can keep going.
“If they were restarting again, that would spell trouble.”

This aged well in the space of 24 hours!

I wasn’t on here at all yesterday afternoon/evening, so it’s quite funny reading all the negative Cameron speculation posts 😂

I don't feel we need another ruck with Oscar and Iliro coming along nicely, even though Iliro has been in defence recently.
I actually wonder if the DC re-signing (which was always going to happen) has another additional benefit - particularly mentoring Steene (and Smit to a lesser extent). If as many suspect we go to 5 on the bench, it opens a real avenue for clubs to play 2 genuine rucks, and rolling DC and one of the young guys works as a nice way to keep our forward line structure (not having to bring a Mcstay up to ruck) and allowing opportunity and development for them as well.

We can’t and won’t go into 2026 intending to contend without insurance for Darcy. Those two might get there, but it won’t be in 2026.

Yeah forgot Witts, probably had his best year this year. Dude’s a workhorse and a very restrictive ruck to the opposition
Funnily he and Grundy have both found some serious form this year, as has Cameron. We’re a ruck factory!

I knew no one was leaving but it’s just a sigh of relief knowing Cameron is locked in and we can finally put all of it to bed. No more fake rumours no more speculation.

There should be no talk of disgruntled players now as i expect Mihocek will get what he wants also. The rest will follow now (specifically Elliott).

Another lesson not to get sucked in by these media vultures who are hungry for engagement. This signing goes to show again that we have the best culture in the league and players want to play there. I suspect we’ll start ticking guys off in the next month and then our main focus will be signing Silvagni.

I don't agree with you re Oscar.
For all his promise, I’m still not sure Steene makes it

I know Smit is still really raw but his athleticism and strength project better than- but who knows?

Oscar seems much more capable when thrown forward

Perfect, extra leverage against West Coast now. Maybe a top 5 pick could be on the cards
Mwwwahhh. Stage 1 and 2 in operation Get Harley is now complete. Hill and Cameron now locked away with outstanding trade offers needed to get them. Step 3 involves a hanky and a bottle of chloroform.

I still find the money talk somewhat odd given we have Treloar's money coming off the books this year and Grundy to follow either next year or the one after

Should be easy to factor that into contract talks in terms of moving money around

It's all a guess. We did just add Houston and Perryman on good money and were targetting Rowell on huge money. With our recruiting of mature players strategy, we've got to be tight in order to have the money to attract these recruits.
