Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Look a love JSOS - but I think the club has a right to say ""we have been paying you pretty well for the last decade while you have struggled to stay on the park - we are happy to give you a 4 year contract, where you will be 32 at the end of it, but $600k is the max"
hahah

thats not what Stamos meant

It's more about where you have your opinion rather than what that opinion is ;)

Do we know if this offer was before HOF did his knee?

It would have been, but you'd think we would have changed our minds. Also, I doubt we were counting on HOF being a full time 2nd KPD midyear.

If this is the case, people might want to hedge their criticism of Jack.

If true, what is the logic here? HOF out for a year. Dean isn't coming in to play as the 2nd KPD right away.

One criticism of the Weitering/JSOS combo is they are both too slow for fast leading players.
I think the plan is to just make do with Weitering, Haynes, Kemp, Young, Gov and Dean. I think this is the right move for the long term as HoF and Dean would likely displace Jack at some point. In the short term, our backline is stronger than it was when we were playing finals, just by virtue of having Haynes. I think they might be bullish on Dean too. He's more physically advanced than most first year KPD's, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him force his way into the team. I don't know about you, but I'm not expecting a premiership next year, so I don't really mind if the backline regresses for a season.

We need a young mobile KPP swingman over the off season, 2nd defensive banana next year beside Weiters, then future forward when HOF and Dean are available.
Gruzewski was mentioned as a target a week ago. Is he big enough, or just another Kemp/Gov type?

He even looks similar to SOS.

You would think Moir coming in would push Kemp back

No one knows the 'dynamics' at play inside the Club. Also who knows what credibility there is to opinion posted as a PM anyway.

As outsiders instead of jumping at shadows- all that can be dione is to look at actions and facts that are public.

Everyone would prefer that Jack stays and i happy to and is part of a united Club. That may not be a possibility or even probability though. IF not the CLub is better off and so is Jack - by definiiton.

It’s not posted in a FACTS thread JaB.

I receive PM’s regularly & don’t post all publicly.

Would seem strange if club pushing him out. My only take would be this theory that Jack is somewhat of negative influence around the club.

That was in the PM as well.

Apparently has an ‘entitled’ attitude.

4 years at $600k a year for a player who has averaged less than 13 games a year over a decade is hardly being pushed IMO

The rumour is that we are pushing him out the door. His actions suggest we might be pushing him out the door.

The average salary for an AFL player is $492, 592 in 2025, so probably over $500k in 2026.

I doubt Jack has been on any decent contracts in his career so this is the last one and he finally found his position and value. The fact that other teams are happy to make a play for him says something.

Is TDK worth the $1m plus we offered him?

Curnow is a $1m plus player averaging 14.9 games per season. Harry the same averaging 13.8 games per season.

I'm not saying JSOS should be earning anywhere near that, but geez he has been a good team player doing the shit jobs to earn a spot.

Besides, pushing isn’t always about salary. It could also be about the communication you receive. Where is the love? He's not leaving for much more money, but it seems love and respect is high on his list of expectations.

I call bs too and only reason we would not be fussed is we have a better replacement
Wilkie 🙏

That might be a development after the initial offer, so we are letting it play out now.
