I want to see your calculations.

Obviously a tiny sample size, but we're 14-3 without him, and 2-2 with him this year.

Coincidence? Maybe. The two losses with him have been by 1 point and 3 points. He'd played a full match in both of those. Would a different player have made a difference?

He has provided us with more injuries than goals this year. In his most recent match he somehow managed three clangers from his two disposals.

Great opportunity to give AFL game time to potential needed depth players for Adelaide. Instead, they’ve given it to Smith, Murphy, and Burgess. None of whom are in the best 22 or even in the side next year. Dart board selection
Not in the side next year??

12 months ago I was very hopeful they wouldn't be in the side this year.

In fact I was confident they wouldn't be. Silly me....now where's the corkscrew? It's Friday.

The shock, you get it, of course you do.

News flash, Murphy’s not a forward either, doesn’t matter that’s where he lines up. 0 goals in 4 games, 1 goal assist.

We have a number of players who could play that role including Cook, Nank, Draper.
I reckon I could play that role! I could definitely play a last quarter and get no touches or goals, it is without doubt. I can keep shape well too - kind of a pudding type shape!

I am flat, I feel like we have too many to carry, I dont understand the though process. How many times.....if I was a youngster struggling to get a game, I would be looking for a new team. Its no different to being in the workplace and passed over for opportunities as the more incompetent are promoted (who you know). Eventually, somebody will give you an opportunity to prove yourself, and then your previous company is left trying to fill your shoes

At the end of the day, the issue here isn't that Murphy was selected. It's that other players weren't.

We already know that Nicks and co see some value in Murphy that rest of us don't. Hence him being continually brought back into the side.

What I would like to know is what aspect of Dowling's game does Nicks want to see before he will select him? He's played in multiple positions in the SANFL, at your request, and thrived in each of them. Does he need to get 50 touches and 3 goals? What's the benchmark to earn selection?

Is there any scenario in which Draper gets another match this year, short of every other player being injured? Is there anything he could do at SANFL level that would get him a spot back in the side in 2025?

Does SANFL form actually count for anything?
THIS!!!!!!!!!! 100%

This!!
OK, even allowing Murphy as "next in" after Pedlar (which is an appalling decision by itself),
picking Schoenberg ahead of Dowling is a reckless brain fade of potentially Season-ruining proportions.
Murphy and Schoenberg IN do not strengthen our side or improve our winning chances, structure and or pecking-order be ****ed.
The energy that Dowling in the midfield would have injected would have lifted players around him; he runs hard both ways and gets his own contested ball.
Nicks has missed a PRIMO opportunity here to show some daring and imagination and reward good form.
Instead, he's undone a lot of goodwill-earned, especially if we lose both of our last 2 games.

Seriously, anybody out there, anybody at all ...
If you were a Crows player, who would you rather suit up with and fight with tomorrow?
Murphy and Schoenberg, whom you'll have to carry against the Mugpies (as well as having to duck in forward-pack marking contests to avoid the chopper blades of Murphy's flailing arms and legs)
or
Nankervis and Dowling, who'll be fighting with you all the way??

I'd say not, both disappointingly and angrily, because it tells me again how inflexible and unimaginative Nicks is.
Does SANFL form actually count for anything?
Not, when solid, good form and a BoG 40 touches + 2 goals doesn't get AFL selection in a team hit by injuries.

This is the shittest Selection at a most crucial time. Nicks is a ****ing idiot.
I'd rather lose with Nank and Dowling playing than Murphy and Schoenberg.
I'm spewing <<rant rave gibber .... reaches for BP medication>> :shoutyoldman:

Funnily enough this is why most of us think a Dowling or Edwards or Draper should be chosen

And knowing you agree makes me sleep better

He abso-****ing-lutely is a first choice - he is the first choice when someone goes out
(above)
A grey Crow at his acerbic best, served with sarcastic icing.

Loved it.

For 2 reasons - he knows he he has the training and game style knowledge inside him - its getting it out

The 2nd reason is more tinfoil - but he doesnt have players inside his 25 and if he brought one in and they performed he would have to explain why he keeps picking Murphy
Exactly!!
It's a cover-his-own-arse move.
If we lose with Murphy in, he can plead "I picked experience".
If we lose with Dowling in, Nicks'll be perceived as too experimental, too daring, should've stuck with experience.
The Board despises daring that loses.
If we won and Dowling had game impact in the win, he'd look like the Conservative mug that he is.
People ask who would replace Rachele - Sid Draper the player who spent time forward
Nah.
Pick a dud with 119 games of proven non-AFL impact.
Fmd.
The last time I was this angry, the Club had re-appointed Nicks and we fell to 0-4 with his shitty, confusing, chip-chip defensive "plan" for 2024.

Just watching last year's Rd 10 match v Collingwood. ROB running towards goal 35 m out and kicking the ball 20m sideways. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Last-minute instructions for tomorrow night:
Nicks (whispering to LMurphy, well away from everyone, with DEATH in his voice):
"Murf, you fly for MotY and take out one of our guns, your career at AFC is over. Got it?
Great, play well, stay down".
Nicks (to whole team):
"If you're within 10m of RoB when he takes possession, run past him and scream for the ball".
(Implied: do not let him kick it).

Ha! I wish. :madv1: :shoutyoldman: <<where the **** are my heart pills?>>

The best post ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You get so triggered by anyone having an opinion that isn't following the narrative of Nicks being terrible. It must be tiring, like playing 5 hours of whack a mole every day.

Haha "news flash" I haven't seen that used much lately.

Murphy spent the first 7 years of his career as a forward. Hellllooooo? Earth to George.
So absolutely no substance behind the rebuttal then
