Despite not hitting the scoreboard he seemed to have a knack of getting into the right places to receive the ball and his disposal looked pretty polished too. I think he'll be a good player.
150 plus just my opinion , he's got a footy brain

No flukey wind and he would have nailed those 2 set shots.
Gonna be a hell of alot tougher for him the next 2 weeks with the experienced back lines he’ll be up against

Will learn by playing should have been in 2 weeks earlier

I think he only gets one of those two set shots, the first one he hung out to the right trying to make the distance.

Overall he had a good debut even without a goal. He was really clean in traffic and a damn good handballer which I wasn’t expecting. He’s earned a selection next week but with Hayward coming back it’s unfortunately not a guarantee yet.

Play both and remove someone else. We have been too tall all season long

Looked lost out there. Expect him to impact more next week.
Needs support and direction from the senior players like Papley and Lloyd. Lack of leadership in the forward line has been an issue for a while
He was the last link in the chain that led to Warner's running goal and executed perfectly so the skills are there..

Skills are definitely there. Looks composed and gives himself time to find the best option and execute. That's not common for young players who tend to be more on the frantic side when they find the ball in their hands. i.e he has shown more composure and footy nouse in two games than what Corey warner has shown in 3 years.

Considering how good he was at reading the play in the wet last week I was honestly expecting him to find it even more today in mint conditions. Not to be. Hopefully just a matter of finding chemistry with his teammates. Must play the last two games.

Dattoli did some nice things but IMO he needs to play better to perform well at an AFL standard. Playing more senior games won't help the team and may even dent his confidence. Dattoli sounds a lot like a homophone for a brand of margarine, so he may already have self-esteem issues. I could be wrong of course but maybe best not to push him further or he'll never sing the song.

In the end a forward's role is to kick goals and to help teammates kick goals. Dattoli's doing the latter but he's struggling with the former. He's now had a good taste of the level expected, enough to kick-start a pre-season focused on a securing a senior spot.

I prefer we bring in Hayward against Geelong.

He’s definitely not lacking in self esteem/confidence from everything I’ve heard.

If Haywards fit why wouldn't he , very strange call

If we ask our small forwards to kick goals then Papley should follow Dattoli out too

Being a club’s leading goal-kicker multiple times & an All Australian does give you a few credits in the bank.

Yep it sure does, and he’s using them up fast

5 goals this year, not like it’s Tony Lockett or Barry Hall

If we’re being honest with ourselves, he’s been underwhelming. Early days yet, but he’s struggling to adapt to the split second less time. Hopefully he’s given the chance to turn it around in the last two games, because the form and fitness of Papley is heading south.

His had one game in the wet (where I thought he was more than ok for a first gamer) and a game against the reigning premiers on their home deck.

All of this off a limited Pre-season....

Some people's expectations are quite frankly rediculous here, his in the side to get a taste for it currently before pre-season.

When you go up in level it takes time to adjust, and this occurs at ANY level in sport, very few tennis players make an immediate impact at grand slam level especially after juniors, younger talents are taking longer than ever in the premier league.

Hell my first two completions at national level were a disaster (first one won no bouts, second I got a massively bruised arm against reigning champ and couldn't lift it for the rest of the day). Imagine if my coach gave up on me after that?

All we want to see from Dattoli currently is flashes and we have gotten those, I'm very excited for his career at the Swans.

Given his high draft position and solid reserves form, I expected at least a hint of something mercurial. We didn’t get it, yet. Not a bad start, but not as good as I hoped for and expected.

His first game was more than solid enough for a first gamer.

He doesn't need to be mercurial, he just needs to gain experience currently.

Should have little to no expectations on a first gamer.

Even this weekend, against a likely top 2 team playing for a side with nothing but honour to play for, his going to find the going pretty tough but it will be a great experience for him.

Spot on . Reads the game and has footy smarts I reckon.
