We won 2 last year and lost a chunk of our best players, replaced them with high draft picks that mostly didn't even get on the field and still more than doubled our wins.
We had a better year than last year. It looks more promising than last year, but that's no excuse for that crap we served up today.

Didn’t watch, but was expecting something like this. What happened to Vlastuin?
Ankle injury in a marking contest

Are you seriously suggesting we should be happy with that "effort"?
People on here will never learn that when you spend six or seven days shitcanning the opposition and telling everyone how we are a better team, that no excuse - even the most crazy of them - don't wash.

Yeah North are s**t, North aren't up to scratch - but we're their BUNNIES.

Campbell should've been given a lot more midfield time. We sent MRJ to the VFL to play in the midfield for a month and then don't give him any time in the seniors. Not even a couple of centre bounces. Even though he's probably not up to it, Sonsie not given the chance even though it's his best position at the lower level. Mansell is a very similar player to McReery who gets multiple CBAs a game, yet we just leave him forward all game when he's one of our quickest and best tacklers.

Then it's been a disaster with Lalor, McAuliffe, Smillie etc.
What? Seth played extremely well in this position. Hes only in his 2nd year, why would we move him around when hes starting to get comfortable in this role? That something you look at in the future after hes established and comfortable in one role.

MRJ doesn't have the tank or consistency yet. Another one were just trying to get comfortable at AFL level and play out full games

You've literally picked a bunch of small forward lol. Doing exactly what half this board cracks the shit over in moving guys from their natural positions.

And guys that got injured. Nothing under our control, so no point cracking the shits over that.

So not really anything we could've or should've done different, isnt it.

I'm always a glass half full and go to our home games no matter what. Was planning to go next week before today but geez I'm having 2nd thoughts. Not because the Cats will flog us but more about our total lack of effort and pride in the jumper today. That's why I'm not going next week, will watch on Kayo at home. Go Tiges.

yes it was frustration, but not as far removed as what you think. We got humbled by a bottom3 team.

If Hopper, tarranto, ross and prestia play midfield next week im calling SEN.
Who cares, lol? Do you guys understand being a young a bottom team means you are INCONSISTENT. One week you may take it up to a top 4 team and the next week you may get blown out by a bottom team. It doesn't matter.

Zoom out. Improvement isn't a week to a week thing, you gotta look at the season overall.

Who do you think should play in the midfield btw? Im wondering why you havnt applied for coaching position with all your elite knowledge.

Not an excuse but a reason as to why we are struggling to play well. North were always going to be primed for a big performance in this game as they'd have circled it as a winnable game for them. I would have liked to have won this game, but at the end of the day losing it isn't the end of the world.

This is the end of the first real rebuild year under Yze and we've won 5 games (North took 5 years into their rebuild to finally win 5 games in a season), we've debuted 9 fresh faces, we have 2 top 5 picks locked away and will get another year of development into the kids in 2026.

In the grand scheme of things today was a slight bump in the road.
C'mon.
Are you saying we weren't primed for a big game and this wasn't a big game for us??
I don't care who won what games in what year of a rebuild, I want effort.
They were insipid today and efforts like that set your rebuild back.
Kids - I don't mind - but those senior players around them .. you know, the ones we kid ourselves with by saying they are in there to take the heat off the kids ... weren't worth a pinch of s**t.

You dont get it, i am not going the kids.....I and going the guys that are on nearly a ****en mill a year and cant play.
That is what has got my feathers in a twist.

Weve done the right thing, its just gonna take time. 2 more top 4 picks this season and probably top 2 again next year. Its just annoying they are all injured and we are stuck with an older team at the moment.
No im not talking recruiting last draft etc im talking over a certain period . Geesook as much as I hate them recruit well even through draft over the years

You're right, but don't forget McAaullife was playing VFL behind Dow and McIntosh for a lot of the year early days
Don't forget that development means different things for different players. VFL can be better for a players development than AFL at points. Getting him ready for AFL in the VFL is better than throwing him in before hes ready

It is tho. Its the 2nd last round of the year. Its pretty standard for bottom teams to struggle to keep up the intensity and focus as the season gets closer to the end. Do people seriously still expect players to be locked in giving 110% in the 2nd last game when were bottom 3? They are only human.

it actually looked like hopper, dion and taranto played in self preservation mode...... too scared of pinging a hammy or a calf in the cold conditions. poor leadership.

It's not about developing them as full time midfielders, it's about offering something different for 10 minutes and also seeing if that's a string they can add to their bow to the benefit of the team. Why do you think Collingwood put McReery in there? He's not a full time mid so why bother making him "uncomfortable" right?

Campbell literally put himself in there earlier in the year to provide something and Yze praised it. He's not going to forget how to play as forward by trying to develop something else for a handful of minutes each week.

Perhaps MRJ can't find consistency because he's not around the ball enough and his role is changed from VFL to AFL? Why send him back to the VFL to play in the midfield if you're not going to give him a go there in the seniors? No one is expecting a full game but throwing him in for 5 CBAs a game and running around for 20 minutes isn't going to kill him or the team. We might find that his pressure is a real weapon around the ball.. so in other words his game is "developed".

I do get it. You don't get it. Its harder for experienced players to be consistent in a young team too, mate. Think about it
i realise that, i played sport at high enough level to understand. but they spud it up with nearly every disposal that counts.

HOW come brown, miller and hotton are creative players, dont see them spudding up the football like the others i mentioned. How about Lalor, first year player and makes them look like glorified vfl players.
Come on mate, be real here.
