One of the most bizarre decisions I can recall. A regulation bump in the back/side to pressure a kicker, resulting in no injury, no free kick, where the player didn't even go off the ground.
Graded SEVERE IMPACT.
Tom Stewart hit wines in the head 2 weeks ago with a flying hip to the head. Graded low impact.
Mind bogglingly inconsistent and stupid.

He went off to do an HIA and was subsequently off with concussion.
Definitely a free kick but the footage doesn't show how it went from a late hit to a three game suspension.

To reiterate there was a down field free and lord was concussed at some point in the incident, either from the contact or when he hit the ground.
Still don't think it was 3 weeks worthy and yet another example of the outcomes based MRP and the single person with an obvious perception of bias doesn't work
Wasn't aware of the concussion. Was he subbed out of the game? Didn't see it listed on AFL site.

The only footage I've seen is the broadcast angle which doesn't appear to show head high contact but it's not a great view of it. Surely there is a better angle?
Have completely disengaged from AFL over the last couple of months, for reasons such as crap lotto like this.
Could be 5 matches, could get off, have no idea and challenge anyone who does understand what logically will happen.

If you watch the incident his head goes backwards after Wines bumps him. It isn't hard to work out, therefore, that the intial impact must be below his head, into his upper back.
If his head has been injured, it must be because his head whipped backwards into Wines after the contact, but the intial bump wasn't high.
None of this will save Wines of course, but it just goes to show how stupid the system has become

Shocking decision. Appeal, turn up in a Collingwood or Geelong jumper, hav Tom Stewart come in and giv a character reference. Good to play next week. Christian has to go, he is the problem.
System is broken. Time to change the grading structure and separate non football acts from those that happen in play. Outcome should be loading on top of the initial sanction not the starting point to determine the sanction.

Bailey received a one match ban recently against Carlton for a less forceful bump that caused no injury. Sad state of affairs.

Very similar to the Tam Smith hit on the Geelong player in the AFLW last year. Absolutely no head contact, at best a fraction late. That got 3 weeks and got overturned at appeal. You'd assume this is the same outcome

Yes yes two incidents and suspended for four matches for one of them. He must be jailed next time he sneezes or World War III will break out.

He really hasn’t. Based on a precedent he probably could have done with a week for the contact on wines and even that was accidental while trying to spoil a handball of all things. The only other times anything has ever been brought up was the rarely invoked (ie. it isn’t at all because it doesn’t exist) ‘he hit him too hard’ rule for his bump into the ribs of a Suns player this year, and last year when he clearly tried to collect the ball and Krueger went for it as well and he threw himself on the ground, didn’t get concussed, played out the game and even Luke Hodge said Krueger played for the free kick.
So when has he been protected? Ok so he maybe dodged a one week holiday for a fairly incidental and certainly accidental attempt to stop a handball. Wow he’s the first player ever to get the better of a 50-50 MRO decision.
The one clear cut case he’s had he got his right whack and sat down for a month.
