Taranto was 20th in the coaches votes before he went down with his calf injury a bloody good effort. Why not judge him on his season as a whole in a bottom-2 team, as opposed to one or two poor games?

How does a glorified VFL player get more coaches votes than 700 other players across the league, from a bottom team no less?

Taranto was awful today. So was Hopper. So was the entire team. It happens.

Prestia is done imo, he can still get the ball, but no spread, poor by foot, nil defensive intent.

Taranto is our best mid, I’d keep him, if there was interest in Hopper I’d consider it, but you still need some depth, it’d have to be a good deal.

Ross , Sonsie and Dow , probably not getting a game in 16 other teams in the competition. Ross is the best of those 3 , the other 2 we are just wasting spots on.

That was a tough watch. Arguably our worst performance for the season, mainly because I think as a whole we as fans and I'm sure the playing group/coaches expected to be competitive for 4 quarters. We have had some bad losses this year, Sydney, Bulldogs, Saints earlier this season and the Suns a few weeks ago. The main difference is expectation, we expected to be competitive and while a win wasn't a given, you wanted to be in it up to your eyeballs heading into the final term. That is what made today so tough to swallow. If it was a top 4 side, if it happens next week against the Cats I think it is easier for everyone to accept.

Big picture wise, it is far from the end of the world. We know we lack pace, we were exposed by a quick team. This isn't a new problem and is something that will surely be addressed in this year's draft. Going into 2026, the centre bounce mix needs to always include one of Hotton, Lalor, Smillie or McAuliffe. These guys are quick/explosive and add a point difference. Taranto, Hopper is plenty of experience in the centre square, we can afford to have one kid in EVERY centre bounce.

I have been quite positive on our season, but the one thing that has concerned me slightly is that we haven't been able to get minutes into the kids through the midfield. A lot of that hasn't been anyone's fault but rather due to injury. It has been good to see Campbell (last few weeks), and Hotton get runs through there.

Again, development is just that. Senior players bare the brunt so the kids can develop in less physically demanding positions and adjust to the level. That is important and required. Hopefully 2026 injuries allow and the coaches start to expose these kids to more midfield time, not full games but good chunk's of game time.

Curtis is a player. He, sheezel, Xerri, LDU and the kid trembath had massive games while our seniors were pretty average bar lynch. Norf are pretty much Carlton in that respect.

Think we only got paid two holding the ball frees all game? Norf got away with so much insufficient intent to play the game when we took it to close quarters. In open play we paid for our lack of skill.

This doesn’t take into account any free agents or trades we complete across the next few seasons.

It was a poor loss. We clearly didn’t come to play. It was Norf’s Grand Final, and other than Larkey they were basically full strength.

Norf and the Aints are experts at late season wins that catapult them to nothingness. We used to do the same … remember 4 wins in 5 and ‘unleash the Geisch’? Or late wins under Plough that inspired us to get Cousins as we thought we were ‘close’. Or any number of 9ths …

What I remember is losing the last game of 2016 by 125 points …

Seriously, if anyone is placing great stock in this performance as meaning anything they need to calm the truck down.

It’s laughable that many believe a rebuild can be completed in a year. Yze took over an ageing and average list. Anyone who believes someone else would have us higher on the ladder and more competitive is kidding themselves. Development takes time, people.

North have done well this year all things considered. They don't have a backline, but due to their strong midfield they have competed really well against good sides. They tired and form dropped a bit of late but they were always going to be too good in the middle against our mids who only do well against slow midfields.

We are in real trouble in the middle unless we get our kids in there quickly, which is probably not going to happen. They have to challenge Lalor, Smillie, McAuliffe and Hotton over the off season to step up. We also have to draft a gun inside mid at pic 2.

The sooner we fade Taranto and Hopper out of the side the better. Prestia should not go on next season period.

Agree. Gibcus should have been playing the last 3-4 weeks. He is a big part of our future and we need him playing

None would have made a difference. I’d be curious to see how many wanted Hardwick sacked during his early years and in 2016. As long as we see small improvements, which we are ,were heading in the right direction. Unfortunately, many people here just like to overreact.
