Anyone else feel all warm and fuzzy when Ross pretty much said either SA club wouldn’t have been able to satisfy us?

No whitlock, Murphy, Butts or pretend first round picks and no take it because restraint of trade or the AFL will make you accept talk

does this imply that there is not much point watching footage of any top rated draft prospects for the next few years?
I reckon they would like Pou Jnr this year. But anyone turning the dial for us will be contracted from here.

So let’s see.

Kane Cornes was a proper limp d*ck on agenda setters.. Ross said how young we were against Essendon and he just sat there and didnt say a thing. What an absolute coward
Rossy just gaslighting the cobber so he can put Kornes back in his place if the little Jack Russel bites

Well that has been rumoured, and in the media for a bit now.

But one point RTB made to today was the if Nas was going the Club would have one strategy which was more rebuilding through the draft, whereas if Nas stayed the strategy would also be about bringing in players (as we would be more attractive).

The second strategy would be presumably be to achieve success more quickly.

So Ryan may or may not be part of that. But Nas being at the Saints would certainly make us a much more attractive destination for Ryan. It also helps that the Saints are now known for be a Club that strongly supports its indigenous players. WCE may also fancy a young FP like Collard as part of their rebuild.

Heard some interesting stuff today from a source that also gave me a heads up on NAS resigning for 2 years over the weekend. This has had a flow on effect, TDK no longer being offered the amount we’ve seen thrown around

The amount thrown around by the media was most likely overs. Ditto for Aleer.

, still a solid chance to sign with us but things have changed significantly $$ wise. Likely that SOS has gone into negotiation mode, appreciate landscape has changed.

If the Saints want to be a Destination Club for quality players from other Clubs then reneging on an agreed deal with a player, or players, would be a very good way to sabotage that.

Besides drop the deal too low, and The Cats would quite probably pounce, and they also have the allure of him playing with his brother. They also have the allure of already being a regular finals team.

I wanted Ryan while he was playing in the Wafl, before he got picked up by WCE.
Not now.

Max Heath will be traded IMO and Keeler is soft as butter.
Keeler might be soft, but he’s tall, athletic, super-talented, and rapidly improving, so he’s on a very similar trajectory to TDK, who performed at a similar looking level at the same age.

You also ignored Dodson. Bloke is prodigiously talented and IF he stays beyond next year (when I imagine clubs will be coming at him from all angles, if we’ve got TDK), we’re going to have TDK (on enormous coin, and who is useless anywhere but ruck) and Dodson both wanting to play the same role.

In regards to the wages, who cares about what we’re paying those three, we will more than make up for it in off field sales and sponsorships, memberships, $8 fridge magnets etc.
Wow, well if that’s all you care about, then sure, it’s a great idea.

My goal on the other hand is for us to build a list that is capable of contending for premierships over an extended period- which is what it generally requires to be a chance of winning one- not selling a lot of fridge magnets.

This is a line in the sand moment for our club, this is a moment in history where we will look back like Richmond did with Dustin Martin.
Sure, re-signing Nas is huge.

Thank God we didn’t get the kid from GW Sydney, or Nas would be gone.
Give me Callaghan over TDK for the same money 100 x over, in our situation. And I think TDK will still be excellent, but is just too much of an expensive luxury.

Oh, and welcome TDK, it’s a red letter day at RSEA park.
I’ll celebrate getting him IF we get him, and IF Dodson re-signs. If getting him on $1.7/8mil PA x 7 costs us Alex, it’s likely to be a costly and highly foreseeable mistake.

Very interesting you say that, as the guy that gave us the heads-up in January about our massive offer/interest in TDK, and also told us months back that we were having a big go at Reid- The_Gun- has been messaging me privately since he copped a bit of grief on here the other day (saying he’s happy for me to share his info, but doesn’t want to deal with any drama on here himself), and he messaged me this on Saturday night (I hadn’t logged in here since Friday night, so only saw this tonight).

As much as it would be a nice sugar-hit and short-term boost to get TDK, I really really think there are other areas we need to prioritise other than ruck.

As for what he said about Reid, I’m guessing that was probably dependent on whether Nas stayed or not, but he didn’t say and possibly wasn’t told.

We were not third for Reid 😂

He had no interest in us.
