It's a world competition otherwise it'd be 90% UEFA and 10% Conmebol. It was worthless crap the first time. Not even worth being recognised as a trophy.
As Carragher put it, how can it be the best teams when national quotas mean the English, Spanish and Italian champions weren't even competing while Red Bull Salzburg, Juventus, Benfica, Porto, Atletico Madrid all got undeserved entries. Crap like Chelsea got in. Auckland City ffs.
The best teams in Europe already have several competitions now.It was worthless crap the first time. Not even worth being recognised as a trophy.

It brings in revenue to the game. I like it, have heard they're looking to make it every two years which I wouldn't like. But every four years it will end up meaning as much as the champions league imo.The best teams in Europe already have several competitions now.
The club World Cup is a waste of time/money/resources but it not being another version of the European champions league isn’t a bad thing.

Why does everything have to be about revenue anyway? Just because something makes money doesn’t mean it’s good for the sport.
Didn't we get in by winning the Champions League? It was worthless crap the first time. Not even worth being recognised as a trophy.

No chance it'll mean as much as the champions league at any point imo.It brings in revenue to the game. I like it, have heard they're looking to make it every two years which I wouldn't like. But every four years it will end up meaning as much as the champions league imo.
Helped Auckland I guess but yeah, don't think the big clubs need it.
Didn't we get in by winning the Champions League?
I guess if the comp is everyone 4 seasons that fits the criteria doesn't it?From 4 years ago!
It's a joke competition when the current English, Spanish and Italian champions were not included in a club world cup.
I think its a comp that only the competitor supporters will care about, neutrals will have no interest.Yeah it’s a wank of a comp.

It's played in the off season and is just another excuse for clubs to make money.
It's rare I side with the players but some of these guys are now playing obscene amounts of football.
Probably right, but I bet a few that are scathing of the comp will change their view if their sides make it. Definitely expect the media in the UK to have a chance of stance.I think its a comp that only the competitor supporters will care about, neutrals will have no interest.
