Traded Liam Ryan [Traded with 2027 R3 to St Kilda for 2026 R2 (Stk)]

Tons of murmurs over in W.A that this week will be his last game at Eagles and he is off to St Kilda on a 4 year 2.8 mill deal.

Question is what is his worth? St Kilda dont have too much to give us in that they only have pick 8 and 44 for now and suspect Eagles will need currency to get other deals done. I cant see Ryan going and not having a experienced player of some kind coming back in our direction somewhere down the line. I think a Future 3rd + 44 for Ryan might work and Eagles can flip that for someone like Erasmus who we are chasing

He also has a ton of issues with his hamstrings and the like. I cant see how he would get 4 more years out of his body the way it is. Id be giving him a year to year contract extension from here myself just because his body is breaking down.

I'm an accountant and I still can't make sense of how they have spare cash in the cap when TDK/Nasiah/Max King are taking up at a minimum $4.5m a year for the next two years. Giving Liam Ryan $700k per year isn't chump change.

Best case scenario for us but doubt it. St Kilda just looking for cheap assets to round of a competitive list. They got 2 years to become competitive if we are fair dinkum and Liam Ryan will make them more competitive then a 3rd rounder in this years draft

As much as this target for the Saints is funny. Who else are they paying? They're likely massively struggling to hit the min cap spend. And just need to spend big time.

I imagine getting Ryan is partly to help out Collard a bit anyways tbh, hes been a decent mentor for the young indigenous kids on our list.

I don't like the idea of it But I wouldn't be shocked if Collard is a part of the deal

I think something like this is far more likely, but make it Saints 2nd rounder AND Ben Hobbs probably, Windhager and Ryan are both worth more than either half of what youve got the bombers giving up.

I’d like to think we can maybe get involved in any trade for Aleer, given GWS have two late 2nd rounders, especially if our plan is to trade back into the first round with a team on a points-based economy. Also as someone else mentioned a Windhager deal. If we could end up with the equivalent of a pick around the 20 mark I’d be content, especially if it goes towards putting us back in at Port, Carlton, or Sydney’s 1st rounder via on-trading
