Whether you agree with Isak’s stance or not his situation can’t be good for Newcastle’s ability to attract high level talent in the future. Generally speaking in football the players support the players rather than the clubs as it’s in their interest to have as much freedom of movement as possible. Newcastle have bottled this situation. The fact that Isak has now escalated this matter publicly demonstrates the relationship is untenable.

One thing I've been frustrated with my club over is how happy we are to accommodate players leaving, sometimes below market value. That being said, it makes it far easier to attract players if they know they can further their career and move on to better opportunities when they arise.

It depends on what promises were made. If Newcastle had said to him we'll let you go if we get an offer of £150m - then Liverpool offer £110m it's not a broken promise. Ultimately promises and gentlemen's agreements are meaningless. He signed a 6 year contract and it still has 3 years to go.
