Please no. 1-2 years would be fine.

4 years is crazy, Dan Hannebery level shit.

He'll be 29 heading into next year. Agree on the surface, 4 years sounds extreme, however consider it from a salary cap perspective, spreading the load over 4 years is a great way to pay him given the next two years will be pricey. Would suggest its a 'back-ended' contract.

We gave up a 3rd round pick for a highly consistent 3xAA in Macrae

Id imagine something similar

Eagles would be looking for more but the fact is he is inconsistent, highly injury prone and looks disinterested which you can't blame him.
The question is would his performance be better in a competitive team?
Trading for Ryan is a massive risk in my opinion

In regards to the eagles list management in my opinion trading away of multiple top 3 picks is a huge mistake a midfield of sheezle, reid and Smith would be elite and would give reid the protection he needs on field to get the best out of himself and also give the Eagles the best opportunity of signing him.

Macrae was a salary dump for them.

Too early to send Collard home in my opinion. Just lacks physicality, which makes it difficult for him to consistently impact contests. But his attacking bent is elite. I'd be prepared to let him sit on the list for another 2 years as I am certain he will get stronger and the potential return is very, very high. He turns 21 start of next season, but I think he will really come into his own a year later. Patience is required for this one.

He told Code Sports in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that St Kilda had been meek and mild for too long and was prepared to upset the AFL industry.
“I think we have been scared as a football club to take risks and we have been scared to upset people in the past, “ he said.
“But there is no risk-free way to win a flag and there is no way to win a flag without offending people. The reason we don’t offend people is because we have been nice on the bottom of the ladder. So I think we are trying to offend people for the right reasons.

Strikes me as a logical swap if we're set on getting Ryan in.

If Ryan comes in I don't think Collard gets a game in 2026.

Andrew Bassat -

Bassat contests the numbers of the TDK deal – reported last week to be seven seasons at $1.8 million then an eighth year at $1 million plus.

But the Saints will also secure GWS defender Leek Aleer on a four-year deal worth $3m and have interest in adding West Coast small forward Liam Ryan.

Tom De Koning is not quite as high as has been represented and we don’t have him yet so he’s no part of our salary cap if that doesn’t happen,” he said.

I reckon (regardless of him being contracted) we'd be looking at trading collard back home for Ryan + another player or pick.

To be honest, if Collard wants to go home & we could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder thrown in with Ryan, it may help us match a bid for Fincher considering he is rumoured to be a late first or 2nd round pick!!

But the meeeja told me TDK was getting 15 gorillion dollars per season? They can't be wrong!

Wasn't it corrected last week by Tim Watson (after a phone call from the club to correct his nonsense) that Aleer was 600k plus incentives?

Not even 24hrs have passed and the boots are already in, kicking us for having two of the highest paid players in the league

$18.3m Saints fear over plan to have AFL’s TWO highest-paid players

This is exactly why we need to march to the beat of our own drum.
  • Lose NAS and we'd get shat on by the media
  • Can't sign big free agent, get shat on by the media
  • Actually sign a big free agent, get shat on by the media
  • Raise the complete unevenness of the draft/trade landscape, get shat on by the media
Literally cannot make them happy. ****'em all I say

Sassy Told You So GIF

Geelong been attracting players for eyebrow raising numbers of dollars for years, now the media is concerned about our salary cap? Funny that.
