Haha no it isn't

As if Steele would leave to another rebuilding team

As if Saints would tarnish player moral trying to push him out

If push comes to shove, how many more years are you adding onto Steele's deal?

We aren't talking about some untouchable club legend here mate, Steele might see the writing on the wall and want a fresh start.

Whether that's at a rebuilding club or not might come down to the money/years on the table - and whether he would actually be guaranteed midfield time at a 'contender' (I'm not sure he would be).

It'd be Steele's call either way I think - I do agree the Saints aren't giving him the elbow.

Very few forwards look great in weak sides.
Makes the likes of Allen and Waterman look like gods with their 50+ goal years but small forwards who generally arent the main target are always going to struggle without any supply, or mature tall forwards(this year) to crumb off.

Hes been quite good considering the circumstances
29yo and 4 years since having a season better than 1.5 goals a game is a gamble.
Can easily see him being a flop.

I think the number of concession picks gets exaggerated by the media. Yes the draft is compromised but the Saints future second should be in the early 30s. There aren't an equal number of academy picks and regular picks (this year they just happen to be quite high picks). Saints second rounder last year was pick 32
Spot on mate. People only look at these bids pushing picks back as if the picks they use don’t disappear as well. Gold Coast bidding on 2 guys in the top 5 wipes out 3 first rounders if not 3 plus a 2nd rounder. The only reason people think it’s so screwed is because it used to be a bunch of picks in the 40s and 50s being used up and disappearing but now it’ll be 20s and 30s.

Can't really think of on field reasons why we'd go for him, he's a good player but doesn't really fit st kilda's timeline. My only guess is it's to fill a gap the club has within its leadership group?

Macrae and Steele cannot be in the same midfeld together so Steele for Ryan is on the cards.

Steele is not going to want to go to West Coast he will pick a contending club if he goes anywhere

If we learned anything from barrass leaving last year it is if you are losing a contracted senior player getting future picks is bullshit .

GWS if he goes

If it happens? Lucky if it’s a third. That’s what Macrae went for.
Macrae was being pushed out. Ryan could fairly comfortably finish his career at West Coast.

Nah its me vs some saints bf person
