Recommitted Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - two year extension

That's the point; I and many don't see the "happiness in staying with your club" that you're implying.

It was like he was content with being at your club and that he didn't want to ruffle any feathers because the grass isn't greener on the other side at the moment. I still think, deep down, that he's still "homesick."

2027, depending on how Port Adelaide's season pans out in that year and what happens in the next two offseasons, in my opinion, will be the difference maker between him staying or leaving.

Again, a complete unwillingness to entertain the idea Nas is happy at the Saints.

Keep telling yourself whatever makes you cope.

Here's his manager talking about it. I'm sure you'll just discredit everything he said too.

If he's "happy" at St Kilda, then why didn't he sign the big 7/8 year deal ?

You’re club will bend backwards for him and give whatever money he wants and whatever contract length he wants, as well as taking on Tex Wanganeen like you guys are. Nasiah has free reign to do and ask for whatever he wants and you’ll give it to him.

So why didn't he sign long-term and take everyone out of their misery ?

That’s all up the footy department to come up with something but can you answer me a question since I’m not getting a reply back from Sully111

I dont think it's unreasonable a 22 year old doesnt want to sign away his life for the next decade. He can be happy at St Kilda and not want to commit to anything long term.

When did long term deals at every opportunity get seen as the normal anyway? Players across history have spent their entire career at a club without ever signing a mega long deal yet still been very happy.

I get that but he has opportunity to be the King of Moorabbin.

Sign a blank cheque and whatever terms he wants and with that can do whatever he wants. You’ll give him captaincy and every resource he wants.

Why not do that instead? Since he’s happy at St Kilda.

Because he's 22 and not everyone is comfortable signing long term at that age. And thats okay.

None of that means he isnt happy or that he's signing out of obligation with a secret desire to play elsewhere.

That’s crap and you know it.

If anything, he signs a mega long-term deal with St Kilda, and if he wants to come home, it gives you guys even more power to hold him to his contract and is way harder to trade that sort of contract.

He signs two to more easier if he wants out in 2 years.

Probably because his management will have convinced him that in 2 years they'll know what the new CBA will be and they'll most likely be able to extract an even better deal then than the current long term offer.

They can always sign him up long term and then renegotiate a better deal under the new CBA bargain is in effect.

From a business point it’s actually extremely smart for him to sign a two year deal the afl pay agreement expires at the same time There will be a salary cap increase and he will be 24 and ready to maximise his earnings on a long term contract, it would have actually been stupid to sign a long term deal with any club

I'm not saying whether it's smarter or dumb for him to sign a shorter contract because, naturally, it's smart for him to sign a short-term deal, especially if he wants to come home to us in two years.

What I'm saying is if he truly wants to be "happy" at St Kilda, he would have signed a longer-term deal now, and then when the CBA increases, your club could revise that deal and come back with even more money and contract length. By doing that, you've got a very strong grip on holding him to his contract.

He's content at St Kilda and is waiting to see what both our clubs do before making a decision.

Well look at it like this he is represented buy a agent that would have zero care whatsoever in upsetting or ruffling any club’s feathers , if nas was not completely happy at st kilda then he would have left now ! His manager has stated in a interview that due to nas remaining extremely calm during the whole process and playing at a high level he advised him to hold off signing until as late as possible which has maximised his contract

If anything, I think the not wanting to ruffle feathers probably more so applies to both SA clubs.

Ben Williams knows he needs leverage again in 2 years time, to build up a long term contract irrespective as to where Nas goes/stays, so he let down Adelaide and Port like a soft pillow with a little fuzzy wuzzy.

Saints can afford to have their feathers ruffled. We get to keep a top 5 player in the league that we’ve genuinely believed in, loved, and adored

NWM is content with staying at St Kilda, not happy. If he were "happy" at St Kilda, he would have signed up for a long-term contract instead of the band-aid, fence-sitting 2-year deal, which it’s just a sugar fix so then if we are in a premiership window he can come home and if we are not that he can stay at St Kilda.

I'm still waiting for a decent answer to why he didn't sign long-term when he had the chance to do so.

  • Confirming Saints are on the right track before committing long term.
  • Unconvinced about Port's short/medium term prospects, will re-assess in 2 years.
  • Not wanting to commit so long at such a young age.
  • Manager believes the total player payment will increase such that he could command a better deal in 2 years
  • Manager believes NWM will improve such that he could command a better deal in 2 years
  • Saints were offering a front-loaded deal, tapering off after 2 years, and NWM feels he could wrangle more out of them next time.

All obvious 'decent' answers.

Oh boy the fan fiction we're all going to read over the next two years is gonna be wild.

No from saints supporters, also I’ve already mentioned the first two points to St Kilda fans and the can’t give me a decent answer to why he did sign long term is was happy at anits.
