Dev had a great 2nd half but that was terrible play in the last minute, just bang the ball long buddy not to a tight 1 v 1 marking contest in your D50.

BTW why is Jack Manly never spoken about as an AFL prospect, always looks good in the VFL.
Manly has been a slow burn. Couple of years ago he was doing a few great things a game but no where near enough. Seems to have improve his fitness considerably. Best game l’ve seen him play.

Dev turned back into traffic ,had no left foot and didn't dribble it instead of elevate it as he did . It was poor. We only needed another 10 seconds.

It's a crying shame because Dev is a class above VFL and put in an outstanding performance until then.

He surely gets on another AFL list next year.

Think both Dev and the club tried to find him a new club last year without success. I hope he finds a club and a regular spot in the team as well. Unfortunately he has too many battling for the same spot here at The Lions

Word out of West Coast was that we were asking for a 2nd round pick for Dev.

That doesn’t quite gel with trying to find a player a new club, if we’re asking for overs.

Given our current situation Dev has experience , he does a lot of things well and he's not weak. Many positives and a reasonably significant negative.

I don't know if or where we play him but I'm comfortable if we do. I don't think he's much of a sub , he's more a workhorse.

Contracted for next year too. Profound waste of a list spot.

Thanks Gunston.
It was confirmed in an article a couple of weeks ago that he's out of contract at the end of the year.

As another poster mentioned, my speculation was that he missed out on a games played trigger - when he joined us there were split reports about contract length as well.

I’ve thought in recent years that a national reserves comp would be beneficial for AFL clubs like the old days, the firsts and seconds just played according to the AFL fixture.

Only issue is what becomes of the stand alone VFL clubs? Would or could the old VFA be reintroduced with top up players from the respective Victorian AFL reserves team players not selected be aligned to those VFA teams.

Just feels like a national reserves grade is necessary these days to also get away from all the byes as well.
Couldn’t agree more.
But what affect would that have on the old NEAFL clubs?

I think it is the SA & WA strong local competition that would resist the change.
You need to stay financially viable and travelling all over the country takes away from your base.

The VFL probably get less crowd numbers than the local competitions.
The financially strong Southport club made the correct decision to go back to their base support a few years ago.
