Jobe to 2028 is a disgrace. Should be 2038. :)
Valid point...

If Chesser re-signs too we arent going to have much room for list additions.

Could very well just be trading up with all our picks to take 3 first rounders + NGAs + f/s and maybe 1 player addition

To be honest I don’t really see a lot of players worth going after & I really don’t see the point of adding players just because we can who really only shuffle the deck chairs & cost us draft capital.

Alex Davis is about the only player I’d be happy bringing in.

Winghager, boxhall, Wilson. Erasmus.?

Winghager, boxhall, Wilson. Erasmus.?

Some of them would be nice & we can ask but the first 3 won’t be coming. Winghager & Wilson wouldn’t come to WA & Boxshall just extended his contract.

Erasmus can’t kick, his decision making isn’t great and he takes forever to get rid of the ball when he has it. Can’t see him fitting into Minis game plan.

If you look at realistic targets there isn’t much else

Whats the ‘offical’ update empty list spots?
From Keys elite OP.

“Based on Hunt, Petruccelle, Rawlinson and Jamieson being delisted, Allen leaving as a FA and Barnett moved to the rookie list we have 39 still on the list made up of 32 players on the main list, 5 rookies and 2 Cat B rookies

Only leaves room for 5 new players so there’d need to be extra spots opened up via trades out, further delistings or additional list spots as part of the assistance package”

This already factored in the Bazzo/Chesser/Cole/Cripps cohort staying.

There isn't much point turning over the list just for the sake of it.

We have two retirees. We probably have a free agent leaving. We have Hunt, Jamieson, Petruccelle, Rawlinson OOC and it's hard to make a case they are part of the future. We could make 6-8 changes to the list before even impacting the team that plays week to week. We don't need to go overboard delisting players under contract just to add picks 50 and 60 to the list.

If we have picks 1, 2, 15, 25, 35 or similar then we may consolidate that into 4 top 20 picks, or go the other way and turn 1 or 2 into multiple early picks. Need to have list spot flexibility for those kind of moves.

Whats the ‘offical’ update empty list spots?

Senior list - from the 38 we started the year with:
McGovern and Sheed retired
Allen all but gone in FA
Ryan potentially being traded
Petruccelle, Jamieson, Hunt, Chesser, Cole and Cripps still out of contract. (The first three are gone IMO, the last three are safe).

Depending on whether Ryan leaves that’s 6 or 7 off the senior list. (Could be more if they elect to delist Barnett and/or Johnston despite having a year on their contracts)

Rookie list - from the 6 we started the year with plus McCarthy and Newton
  • Dewar I think has to be upgraded
  • Hutch may be upgraded, he’s contracted for next year
  • McCarthy and Brock also contracted for next year
  • Rawlinson and Newton (Cat A) plus Livingstone and Champion (Cat B) are uncontracted.

We can have a max of four Cat As (assuming we use all our senior list spots) so upgrading Dewar and delisting Rawlinson would get us back to zero. To create other spaces we’d have to delist Newton, upgrade Hutch (or McCarthy or Brock) or go in short on the senior list.

We might delist Livingstone just to create room to prelist one of the academy players as a Cat B.

Thank you.

Depending how the list team see and rate our NGAs/FS this year it’s an interesting scenario for the list team.

Extra list spots would be huge. I’d move Cripps on to the rookie list to free up another main list spot if we are given extras.

We ain’t intending to just bring in 1 mature body by the sound of it. At least 3 again I reckon. 3-4 first round draft likely.

List spots required.
3-4 draft picks
2-3 traded in
0-4 NGAs/FS?

Bazzo signing is a bit meh. Don’t think the dude has it and always plays a bit limp without any intensity. I guess the fact we need KPD depth saved him.

I think a year is a good extension - more would be irresponsible, less (as in not resigning him) I think would be a waste and as you say it's a spot we need depth in.

Do agree his performances haven't been intense enough for my liking but given everything (even ignoring the family stuff, his injuries would have been immensely frustrating) I think another year might bring out the best in him. Coming into a preseason not injured, having played a few AFL games in a row and having healthy but manageable competition in Brock could be awesome for his confidence.

Do think he needs to either bulk up considerably or up his fitness (therefore improving pace/agility) considerably. He currently doesn't have a 'winning option' - Brock is pretty light but he's fit and agile enough that he can manoeuvre himself into a winning spot where his weight doesn't matter as much.

How many free list spots are we going to have at the end of the year at this rate?

Outs/OOC
Allen - Brisbane (1 out)
McGovern (Replaced by McCarthy)
Sheed (Replaced by Newton OOC) - Would expect to be given a preseason.
Bazzo/Cole/Cripps - All reported to be extending one year
Champion OOC - I'd expect him to get another year
Chesser OOC - I'd like him to get another year (or two), especially considering the contracts given to cole/Cripps
Hunt/Petrucelle/Jamieson/Rawlinson/Livingstone - Heading towards being delisted (5 out)
Barnett/Johnston - Contracted for next year, not sure if club would consider paying out if we need the list spots.

I count 6 outs on that list, if you assume we keep barnett/johnston.
I don't know how Rawlinson & Livingston being on the rookie list affects our list size so I'm going to choose to ignore it and not research it.

Ins
Draft: Pick 1, 2, Hawks 1st. These might end up all we bring in draftwise with our limited list sptos
NGA: Banfield/Evans/Walley/Williams - Do we have enough spots for all 4 of these players?

Just off this do we actually have the list spots to hunt players from other clubs?
We have to be relying on being given 4 or so extra list spots at this stage by the AFL you'd think?
Might be a few more brain cells looking to disappear from my head...

I50 count is the main issue. Our supply into forward 50 is shite, and keeping it in pathetic. I blame owes.

WC 46.5

AFL average 51.5

Lions 56
Cats 56
Pies 53
Crows 54
Giants 51
Freo 52
Wonder what our inside 50s against are ?
Not only do we struggle to supply our forwards our opponents seem to get a huge supple of quality entries meaning our defenders are under the pump .

our midfield has sucked since 2018 when we maybe broke even
