Beat the Lions in the QF smashed the pies in the prelim then beat Adelaide in the GF.
Would make our path a lot easier if hawthorn win tomorrow though.

Tomorrow night, we’ll know more. No surprises in this finals series- teams are very even.
If Lions then GWS, straight sets is the possibility

Giants will likely be on the opposite site of the draw. It would be the dogs or suns probably in the 2nd week.

Don't get in the way of a good VDubs doomsday scenario post. ;)
Most people spill milk and just…well, clean it up.

Vdubs spills milk and suddenly Geelong is going out in straight sets, Putin is restoring the USSR, Hitler is back from the dead, nuclear war has begun, and we’re all vaporised in 12 seconds. One thing leads to another, it's all connected you see.

We joke, but it’s good he’s here to keep us steady. Who knows where we’d end up without his caution

Geelong v Hawthorn Grand Final.

Down all day, a Herculean last quarter from Patrick Dangerfield lifts the team.

His 12 touches, five tackles, three smothers, and four goal assists sees the Cats storming home.

A 26 point deficit at the final change is whittled down to 5 points after Jezza kicks his sixth with a left foot snap from 45 on the boundary.

Back to the centre with 13 seconds on the clock.

Bounce, Rhys Stanley contests well, but the ball falls to Worpel who attempts to kick it out of the pack.

Danger smothers, and the ball spills to Tom Atkins.

Quick hands release to Bailey Smith, who rapid fires it through flailing Hawks hands to Max Holmes who pumps it long to JEZZALENKOOOOOO who takes a Gary Rohan style pack mark 50 out.

Siren.

The crowd falls silent in hushed disbelief.

Cameron breathes deeply. He’s kicked 6.3 for the day. Is on 99 for the year.

He walks in, kicks high… but it’s wide… and Hawthorn fans rejoice.

But hang on, what’s that? The umpire is signalling there’s been an infringement?!

Little Sammy Mitchell has been penalised for stepping on to the field of play!

It’s fifty!

Jezza steps to the goal line, hammers it through, CATS WIN, HE HAS KICKED 100, and God appears from the heavens and yells WEKILLEDEMFARKIN!!!

Jumping at shadows??

Even if that was my prediction, there's no way I would feel liberated to express that here in this thread.

It should be called Finals Hopes, because that's what we have, and what we all agree about.

QF: Geelong v Hawks MCG (I think Hawks win by 15+ today) W

Prelim: Geelong v GWS MCG W

GF: Adelaide v Geelong MCG W

Regardless of the way it pans out, I can't see us avoiding both GWS and Brisbane. Obviously a good chance Lions win today and we get them straight up in a QF. I've still got us a good chance of getting Giants in a prelim as I have them finishing 5th which will get them a home EF and I think they roll the Pies in a semi in Melbourne to complete a straight sets exit for the Pies.

Shortly after winning the GF, we will then welcome James Crab to the club as a RFA!

Of course, but every post so far had us winning the flag
Us winning the flag may not pan out, we know how hard they are to win.

But we're hot favourites to take it out with bookies. So it's not a stretch for many of us to think we will. That and the fact we get two Melbourne finals and have a very healthy list.

Odds, media opinions of course mean nothing, but what it does do is give an indication as to the great position we find ourselves in to give it a good shake.

Minor correction, I wouldn't say hot favourites. Marginal favourites.

Geelong $3.75
Adelaide $5.00
Brisbane $5.50

Brisbane will shorten if they get the job done today though.

Your overall sentiment that Geelong supporters can be hopeful without it being delusional though - I agree with that. We all know how hard they are to win, but we're in a good position.

Crows were right with us until Rankine

And I think that's logical. They are still very good, but his midfield/forward involvements have been crucial and game-deciding in many close matches this season. It'd be like us losing Smith or Holmes.

Those home finals will have a hell of an atmosphere, though. Whereas ours will be somewhat neutral or even hostile (if it's Hawthorn/Collingwood).
