I agree with many posters that bagging Ned is over the top.
He's a young player just starting to find his way, and his improvement since we drafted him has been impressive.
He started the season as a sub, and is now a regular in our best 23.
He obviously has things in his game to work on, but that will come with time.

Give the kid a chance, rather than criticising every little thing about him.

Sure does.
Any reasonable person would say that Long has had a break out season this year. He’s not perfect by any means, but he’s made a pretty decent contribution.

He is down ATM compared to the start of the season, he has contributed quite a bit. But he's still young, he's body is probably tired, I'm interested to see what he can do after another preseason.

Not to mention one of your own players, you're meant to support.
They pick him for a reason, because he provides a different element to the midfield. I doubt they expect him to get 30 every week. But to provide the defensive element the others dont have. Not everyone needs to be elite, or a star, just needs to provide a point of difference from what else we have.
He's doing what they need of him, end of story.

I’m pretty confident everyone can see his flaws. He was a mid season pick up after all. The issue is the cupboard is empty. Mitchell has been in bloody poor form. Maybe with degoey building it changes the conversation who knows. We targeted Rowell so clearly are looking to improve in the clearance area.

Its not the same is what I'm saying. There is a clear difference with the way Mitchell gets talked about being done, and the way certain posters just are quick to jump in here for no reason really but to pot shot ned at every moment possible. And not even criticism, but basically to put down the kid.

I don't think you're paying attention if you think Mitchell isn't being put down the way Ned is.

Fwiw, I don't think Mitchell is in our best 22 and think Long is marginally in front of him, but to say he's not getting bagged is incorrect.

And Cox, and Hosk, and MaCrae - but only this year. Even Shooter was fair game last season.

Basically if you point out Ned Long’s declining form and poor disposal then you’re bagging him. But if you call Mitchell slow and want him delisted it’s constructive criticism.

Truth be told neither Long nor Mitchell are good enough for what we need. Hopefully we can recruit a better replacement this off-season.

I think the end is not that far off for Tommy but Long isnt the solution IMO
I’d still prefer we go with Tommy this year

He's always been that way feeding the ball out though. It's his job to get dirty, absorb contact and feed the ball out.

Don't worry about it. They both get bagged as much as each other but Mitchell is cooked and Long is in the side every week.
