Game Day AFLW Round 2, 2025: West Coast vs Essendon

With the girls 1/1 and playing with spirit not seen in the Mens sides this year it's an exciting time to jump onboard and support our girls in the AFLW.

I mean, With Rising Star Painter (Luuuush), Ella Roberts and Rentsch out there causing all sorts of mayhem it's a guaranteed good time.
It's also going to be fun watching Kayley Kavanagh go about it in her debut for the club after a horror start with that ACL.

Nervous about our center line. Theirs is much stronger. But then, our Followers are better.

Interesting to see who takes Toogood. Maybe Cleaver, the others are fast enough but probably not strong enough. If she gets off the leash, we're in trouble.

Having to watch this on a delay, hoping to avoid spoilers and see a good showing this arvo.

Essendon carved GWS up but, looking at them yesterday, that might be the norm for the Giants.

Essendon’s top tier too good for us imo (please don’t), so it would be a big one if we could knock them off for 2-0.

Nervous about this. Personally expecting Essendon to fall somewhere in the range, bottom of the 8 to mid table. If we lose badly, it implies our ins, while good, may not have closed the gap. But if we do well, a shot at the 8 is a chance.

Biggest concern for me. We have a lot of players in contention to be starting defenders unavailable, but our back line is still better than our forward line.

Totally unrecognisable from the player last year.

What an improved player.
Very strong in the air .

She has had Toogoods measure since that first mark on the lead.
Has been excellent defending the aerial contests.

Definitely need to work on the connection to the forwards.
It's not been as bad as last year or even prior years but it is probably the weakest bit now.
