So so so close.

Goddamn that would have been the best win of the year.

You know what, against high quality oppo, the girls might be disappointed but **** do we belong in this comp now.
Absolutely should be aiming for finals.

Don't think ultimately we deserved to win that, we were outplayed badly in that second half, could easily have been much further down. Would've been to nice to win it though.
I think whoever ended up in front deserved it.
Was an absolute belter of a match.

Will be good for the girls to play in a game like that, high pressure, tight right to the death..
Lots to learn from it.

Hurts like shit though that we were so close.

We are getting there and evolving as a team, and getting better each year, the improvement is there, BUT we need to work on our ball movement into the forward line, our forward 50 entries leave a lot to be desired.
It's been a massive problem since inception.

When we start getting that right, we will start winning more games.

Oh for sure, lot of positives to take from it despite the result.

Frustrating game to watch. We were the better team all day, massive in the contest and on the spread, but too many dumb decisions with ball in hand and running past Essendon players instead of at them. We should have won that game.

We need to get a genuine KPF who is capable of both taking a contested mark, lead hard to straighten us up and then kick goals.

I am hoping that Riggs will provide us with this.

Franklin just doesn't ever do enough for my liking and is a bit of a list clogger IMO, runs around like a blue arsed fly with out ever really doing anything.

Wanting to see the Wakfer's go to the next level, they both still have a lot of improvement in them.

As I mentioned earlier Cleaver has taken this next step and looks so much better as a KPD than she did as a forward.

And what an excellent acquisition Liz McGrath has been, love the way she goes about her craft.

Cleaver was impressive today. Can't say that I see it with McGrath though. It seems like she's only there because she's tall.

15 disposals 32 hitouts for mcgrath, she goes

we def need to sort out our mid rotations, need to include painter in there more

WOW really - she dominated in the ruck today had 31 hit outs the combined total of the Essendon rucks were 8 hit outs.

Her tap work is a good a service as our midfield has ever had.

Sure she is by no means a star, but she is a very serviceable blue collar worker, who wins in the contest, in the most physically combative position on the ground.

She also managed 14 disposals herself.

Barrybran I'm not sure what more you are expecting from her , but then again we all see things differently and thats ok :thumbsu: .

Unfortunately they might be using Painter the same way they used Rentsch last year. Rentsch was stuck in the full backline to cover a need. This year they got Lu sitting forward to offer optionality for when Ella needs a break...but they really need a proper forward target down there.

Riggs may be the play but you're risking her wrist if defenders are gonna be spoiling her and punching her arms.
