Giving the Tigers pick 3 was a masterstroke by north. Will go down as one of the worst trades of our time.

Happy for tigers fans and their generational death ride this year. Well done.

We’ll take someone better at their pick 20 they gave us

With norths track record I definitely don’t have concerns about the veracity of this comment

We haven't ****ed up a R1 pick since Phillips so not sure what you're on about here.

If Marcus didn't produce a few geniuses, somehow, you'd be mired in mid-table madness for the foreseeable.

i didnt know richmonds future second was now a first round draft pick

The draft is lamentable, how many top pick midfielders do we need?

Yes, the talent you get in the second round is definitely comparable to pick 3. Are you North's list manager?

Irrespective. The only question which needs to be asked is "where would MWhitlock go in this draft?

6-10? 24? Where?

Somewhere in the second round. St Kilda's key defender pick 8 or w/e he was has looked excellent so is deserving of the pick 8 mantle. Whitlock looks nothing special in comparison.

Probably not. Whether he makes it or not is really irrelevant for us.

M Whitlock
W Dawson
Comben
Logue
Pink
Maley

How many more do we need?

You gave up pick 3 on the basis that you'd make top 8 this year which would probably make that trade a win. Bottom 3 and giving up pick 3 is a disaster. It could have been traded for an A grade player or drafted a gun.

Its ok to be ashamed that North made that trade. I know I would be.

Let’s see who we miss out on with pick 4, at the end of the day it’s a lottery and good luck trying to bring anyone of quality into north as anyone worth pick 4 on the open market would have rocks in their head to join us.

Sure would have loved to keep it but we walk away with a key position player with two preseasons under his belt start of 2026. I don’t think it’s a disaster but it’s by no means the worse that could have happened.

There is zero chance they end up with pick 3 in what is shaping up as a really bad draft. There was a good reason teams wanted out.

End of the day it’s our 2025 1st rounder v tigers 2024 and 2025 2nd rounders. Lots to play out. Whitlock would have been the best available key defender in this years draft.

There would be not one person at the NMFC that gave up our 1st thinking we would make the 8 this year. We gave it up cause we rated Matt very highly Time will tell i suppose.

I’m not saying the trade was good but there is zero chance we thought we’d be finals bound off the back of 2 100 point thumpings and a 3 win season against teams that finished near the bottom.

Sometimes its ok to just say the team ****ed up and leave it be. Trying to excuse it and twist things to make it acceptable is just embarrassing
It doesn’t look great but if the two players we take are better than the one the Tigers do what happens then?

Eagles had pick 2 - Sheezel in the 2022 draft. Gibney and Hewett are showing enough not to make the trade overly embarssing. Only time will determine how good or bad a trade is.

No that's just rubbish. By this logic you could trade pick 1 for picks 15 and 50 and then just say only tine will tell which players turn out better

The trade in a vacuum was complete dog shit and that should just be acknowledged rather than all this what if isms

Yes, it was a shocker. Was it as bad as you guys trading pick 3 for pick 12? Maybe not.

Yeah how bad of a trade this was is overstated given the respective quality of the two drafts. It was still an expensive trade to make, but it's way too early to call the outcome.

Well that's an understatement for the North recruiting team. Get out of the 2025 draft? They've paid a Kings ransom to do that. Pick 20 for Pick 3 wow! Whitlock would want to have a seriously good career to justify this trade down the track
